Obi-Wan... Now, thats a name I haven't heard in a long time." (Alec Guinness, Star Wars Episode IV)
The early Star Wars movies should be seen and owned by all because they are a landmark in cinematic history and this digitally mastered boxset is indeed a great way to own them.
The arrangement is elegant and to meet the genre of sci-fi slightly futuristic with the 3D texture and black and silver colours. The main characters including one of my favourite actors - Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and the wonderful Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3P0) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) feature on one side and on the other side one of the greatest villains of all time - Darth Vader played by David Prowse and voiced by James Earl Jones. One side representing the rebels (the good side) the other side depicting evil.
Good vs. evil is a main theme throughout the films and much of the plot line consists of Luke Skywalker resisting the dark side. There are many epic themes throughout the plot, which I am not going to review as I will only be what I am being now (very much biased) and give no fault. For those who are new to Star Wars and would like to know the plot of each of the movies previously try the fantastic IMDB and the other fantastic reviews.
I have no objection to these digitally mastered versions and can only thank Lucas for the superbly updated special effects and little suprises that are great to look out for. However, I respect that some audiences would prefer the original, unaltered versions that are also now available on DVD.
The boxset includes (in chronological order) Star Wars Episode IV (A New Hope), Star Wars Episode V (The Empire Strikes Back), Star Wars Episode VI (Return of the Jedi) and yet another advantage of buying this boxset a DVD filled to the brim with bonus material.
