Advantages: Every Star Trek Movie, in one Handy Box Disadvantages: There aren't enough hours in a day!

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE
Produced 1979, Directed by Robert Wise
This is the first movie. Star Trek was going down hill, and was switched off air, so to get back in the swing, they launched this movie, which all of a sudden created an explosion of Star Trek fans, which was good for us, as it also encouraged them to make more movies!

There are five original movies, and five of the next generation movies. In total they make 1101 minutes (I make that about 18 hours 30 mins) of pure star Trek excellence.
The ratings of the movies differ, 1 is a U, 3 are 12s, and the rest are PG.
All of the DVDs look the same, but as you lift the DVDs out the packaging there is a piece of artwork underneith relating to the movie.
Right so the movies themselves, I wont tell you storylines, as 1, you probably know them anyway, also I dont want to give away too much if you havent seen them.
STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE Produced 1979, Directed by Robert Wise This is the first movie. Star Trek was going down hill, and was switched off air, so to get back in the swing, they launched this movie, which all of a sudden created an explosion of Star Trek fans, which was good for us, as it also encouraged them to make more movies!
The only disappointing thing about it, is there is no special features or anything, you can play the movie, change setup or have an audio commentary by the Director.
STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN Produced in 1982, Directed by Nicholas Meyer This is excellent qulaity, but once again a bit disappointing in the menu only a choice to have a directors commentary again!
STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK Produced in1984, Directed by Leonard Nimroy Once again only a commentary, but it was directed by Leonard Nimroy, so quite good to listen to.
STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME Produced in 1986, Directed by Leonard Nimroy This has got to be one of the best known star trek movies ever, it is on every christmas, about the oceans drying up and having to get some Whales to save the planet. very good, but seen every year!
This also only has a commentary but by Leonard Nimroy and William Shatner, so quite entertaining.
STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER Produced in 1989, Directed by William Shatner Layouts start to change here, this movies start straight away and the menus are behind the movies from now on. Then again thats a good thing, as still there isnt much to do with the menus, the only difference is this time the commentaries have disappeared and instead Special Features have been introduced, however they are only a theatrical trailer and a teaser trailer, which isnt much good as you've now seen the movie?
This is also the last of the original Star Trek productions. The end of the wobbly cardboard sets! Also the end of an era.
STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY Produced in 1991, Directed by Nicholas Meyer The very first Next Generation Movie, and very well done indeed! However once again disappointing menu, only special features are Theatrical and teaser trailers!
STAR TREK VII: GENERATIONS Produced in 1994, Directed by David Carson Probably the better known of the next generations movies, it sees the return of William Shatner, James Doohan (Scotty) and Walter Koenig (Chekov). All get stuck inside a Nexus! This has no special features, only the options to play the movie, or change setup.
STAR TREK VIII: FIRST CONTACT Produced in 1996, Directed by Jonathan Frakes The one with the BORG, also very well known. HOwever once again only specialfeatures are Trailers!
STAR TREK IX: INSURRECTION Produced in 1998 directed by Jonathan Frakes Well you think you know the routine by now, but they are suddenly understanding we want more, however, there is still only one special feature, but it is behind the scenes footage, very good, you get to see how they filmed etc.
STAR TREK X: NEMESIS Produced in 2002, Directed by Stuart Baird Finally an outstanding movie, with so much to offer. This is the last Next Generation movie, if you dont know why, then watch it! A stunning storyline, that really does unite everyone, it gives you a real sense of family, and they're all grown up!
The special features on this are stunning! First off, you have a couple of commentaries one on the film, the other on directing it, both done by Stuar Baird.
Then you have A bold vision of the final frontier, this shows you how they designed and built sets, and their thinking behind it all.
Next is, "a star trek families final journey". This is brilliant, you have all of the actors and actresses we have come to know and love throughout Generations giving their feelings and thoughts on the movie, how it was filmed, storylines etc.
Well we're not finished yet. you kthen have RED ALERT: shooting the action of nemesis, this also has actor and actress interviews, and shows you how they filemed some stunts, and peoples views of them.
Then Deleted scenes! Excellent there are 8 extra scenes cut from the movie, most of which I wish they had just made a three hour movie, as this was so good.
Last but not least is the Photo Gallery, this contains artwork and designs of stages, transport, clothing, chairs, very good.
All in all , this is an excellent buy if you like star trek.
In fact even if you dont like the series more than likely you will like the movies.
My only bit of advise is to check out prices, definitely check out www.play.com, as I got mine from their for £90. They do have their little sales. Also if you dont mind if its second hand, they do tend to show up on ebay quite a lot!
