robert redford plays nathan muir, a CIA agent who, only days away from retiring, lerns that his protege Tom Bishop(brad pitt) has been sentenced to death in the next 24 hours by chinese authorities but instead of the cia embarking on a rescue mission, they do nothing, fearing that they could destroy international relations.
but muir spurned by his friendship and pride in the man he helped to shape, decides to go on a race against time to save bishop on his own. With great difficulty and no help from the cia muir engages in a battle of wits with the chinese goverment.
Whilst all this is going on, muir is reminded of his past with bishop and the missions they undertook together and the woman that nearly destroyed their friendship forever.
this action packed film was a big hit at the box office early this year and its now out to rent or buy and will be on sky box office in early november.
