Spooks series 4 is the first spooks set not ot begin on a cliff hanger. With Danny definitly dead (no there is no magic way of bringing him back, I'm sorry) the entire team is completely different from the original three Tom, Zoe and Danny. Danny is replaced with a new spook from MI6 Zafa ro Zaf for short. Zaf is an old friend of Adam's which gives the team a good relationship between all of them nothing could go wrong! Giving Zaf a relationship with the head Spook means there is no delay waiting for the new Spook to get into action.
The teams changed but the acting quality is definitly still there. The actors all giving it there best makes this series no worse than any of the others.
There is always the problem with the actors of a programme being bigger than the actual show. This hasn't been the way with Spooks as all the original cast have gone with the exseption of Malcolm, Harry and Colin and the show is still as good as it was in series 1.
The storylines do not get more and more unreal like what happens in many other tv shows. The team have to make many tough calls to defend the country against various different threats.
The series begins with a double episode with a group of extremists who believe the human race needs to be reduced in size. They set off a bomb every hour killing many different people. The first of which goes off during Danny's funeral and the team all have to rush out at once.
The different approach to spying of Adam is shown a lot in this series with him hanging people over the side of buildings to get information out of them. This different approach gives a great new side to MI5 and the Spooks which I believe have made this series a huge success.
If you are sceptical whether to continue watching the Spooks series than I urge you to continue. This incredible show has not lost any of it's spark.
