The movie begins with some scurvy pirates looking for treasure, they find it, and bring it ashore. They've hit the jackpot… "Tickets to the Spongebob movie!" And so the tale begins in Bikini Bottom, where an exited Spongebob is sure he will be promoted as the new manager of the Krusty Krab 2. Later at the ceremony, Spongebob is so convinced that he's got the job, he mishears Mr Krabs, who reads out Squidwards name, only to jump up "Whoooh yeahhh!" and begin to make a speech. When the truth hits, a heartbroken, humiliated little Sponge sets off to drown his sorrows at Goofy Goobers, where he and Patrick over do it on the sundaes!
In the meantime scheming Planktons envy of Mr Krabs success has shown itself in the form of 'Plan Z', the evil Plan Z is diabolical! The plan is put in place and soon Mr Krabs has been framed for stealing King Neptune's crown, and taking it to the forbidden shell city, where there's an evil cyclopse! King Neptune's wrath is terrible and Mr Krabs is soon to be executed…..unless…..
Spongebob returns to work the next day to face Mr Krabs after his disappointment, he walks in as Mr Krabs is facing being fried, and calls him "a great big jerk!" which clearly doesn't help! But things are smoothed over when Spongebob realises what's going on and vows to save Mr Krabs, after some help from Mindy they strike a deal with Neptune and are given 6 days in which to retrieve the crown.
Their journey begins as they set off in the 'Patty wagon', Spongebob doesn't have a licence, but hey- "you don't need a licence to drive a sandwich!". As they get laughed at before crossing the border, they're told they won't last 10 seconds over the county line. Well they were wrong….they lasted 11! In which time a big scary looking guy took the patty wagon, leaving them stranded.
They continue on their journey and soon come to a bar called the 'Thug Tug' (the name says it all!), where they find the Patty wagon parked outside! So they must get back the key (a spatula!) Chaos reigns inside, due to an accidental bubble party in the bathroom, (bubbles, and bubble blowing babies are forbidden!) but thanks to Patrick they finally get the key back and get out in one piece. Whilst driving along, the two friends realise the road is getting quite bumpy, but what they don't realise, is that the bumps in the road are actually bones! They see a sign for ice-cream and pull over. A seemingly harmless old- lady hands over the ice-cream, but won't let go…..she's stuck to spongebob! Because it isn't an old lady at all - it's a giant frogfish!..... " Aaahhhhh!!"....... They run to the end of a cliff and are saved when the frogfish is eaten by a bigger creature…which is then eaten by a bigger creature!
After the scare they realise that they're just a couple of kids, who can't save Mr Krabs….until Mindy shows up with a little encouragement, and a little mermaid magic (yeah right!) In the form of two bits of cleverly placed sea-weed! Their courage is restored and their ready to face anything…so they jump off a cliff thinking they're invincible! When landing safely at the bottom thanks to a branch, they realise that they are if fact - 'men'! A song ensues as they walk through the deep dark cavern whilst oblivious to the peril going on around them! As they are about to be eaten, they start to dance (by slapping various body parts!) Soon they have an audience and their group of 'friends', are singing along with them. They reach the other side of the trench and the monsters are cheering (until Spongebob upsets them!) They're just about to begin another verse… when they meet Dennis! A really mean looking bounty hunter hired by Plankton, who had specific instruction to 'step on them' with spiked boots! But before doing so, Dennis lets slip that it was in fact Plankton who stole Neptune's crown. And lucky for them, before Dennis gets to finish them off "Bigger Boot" steps in and steps on Dennis. But who is the bigger boot that saved them?....... "IT'S THE CYCLOPES!!" Before they can run, the Cyclopes (A guy in an old fashioned diving suit) scoops them up and takes them away.
They awake in a strange place…with, 'artificially coloured rocks'…. they're in a glass bowl, and through it they can see all kinds of sea creatures on shelves (Dead ones that have been dried out). The Cyclopes comes back with a pot of 'googly eyes' and glue. They are going to become "smelly knick-knacks…Aaahhhh"…… They're placed under a lamp to be dried out. They see that they did make it to Shell City after all, it's a gift shop! And on the table is Neptune's crown!. But before too long….. they're gonners….but not before leaving a tear from a last rendition of 'The Goofy Goober' song.
Back in the movie theatre, the Pirates are crying (and making a mess!) No! Spongebobs gone! But wait "Look at the tear of the Goofy Goober". The tear slides off the board, down the lamp cord to the socket, which sparks it out and causes the sprinklers to go off……It's not the end of Spongebob and Patrick! And it's not the end for the rest of the sea creatures either! They get the crown and head down to the beach, where Patrick foils their plan of getting home in time. A tall stranger runs over and offers to help, it's David Hasselhoff! "I can take you there" he says, and soon they're riding the Hasselhoff to Bikini Bottom, which is now in chaos due to Planktons mind controlling 'Bucket helmets'. They've nearly made it…..but what's this? Dennis is back! It's nearly over (again!) for Spongebob and Patrick, until Dennis is knocked off the Hasselhoff.
Finally! They get back to Bikini Bottom, to find Mr Krabs just about to fry! Just in the nick of time, they save the day. But what about Plankton? A good dose of a wizardy rockstar tune of "I'm a Goofy Goober - ROCK!" Blasting from his guitar is all it takes! (Look out for Patrick in boots!)
Sorry if I've spoiled the plot for you, but even if you know what happens throughout the film, it can't spoil the comedy genius you find at every turn!
Bonus features are also great, including: 'The absorbing tale behind the Spongebob Squarepants movie', which shows things from the first drawings of Spongebob to the voices behind the characters (which is interesting to see!) A really great documentary.
'Case of the Spongebob', with Jean Michel Cousteau, who takes us exploring the real creatures of the sea- from Sponges to scary frogfish! Really interesting.
'Animatics', the drawings and designs of the movie.
And 'Saving the surf', making us all think about what we need to be doing to save the beautiful reefs and beaches.

...succumbed to the charms of Spongebob Square Pants. Initially I found this cartoon irritating and really quite childish, that was until last year when my thoughtful boyfriend bought me a new fish tank the Spongebob Square Pants themed tank. So after realising how cute the characters were and how much my fish enjoyed swimming around with them I thought it was time to find out what this was all about.
So I watched some cartoons, then suddenly before ... ...on dvd, followed by Spongebob Square Pants The Movie. And now I can answer the question 'Who lives in the pineapple under the sea?' As is asked in the theme song. Of course the answer is obvious, its Spongebob and not forgetting Gary the snail his faithful pet.
So after the cartoons got boring it was time to indulge in a large dose of Spongebob fun. But first for anyone not familiar with Spongebob he is the bright yellow rectangular sponge who wears ...

Advantages: Good clean fun, no need to think, just watch and enjoy... Disadvantages: TV show better
...a certain disposition to like Spongebob Squarepants: infantile, silly... or perhaps you enjoy your cartoons to be off the wall and zany. This cartoon is billed as a children's cartoon and can be seen on the cable children's TV channel Nick Toons daily, but it is one of those programmes that you can watch with your off spring and enjoy in it's zany, infantile and... shear silliness - let's give a big hand to this brilliant show!
I watch it occasionally ... ...old, and have fun at Spongebob and his buddies. But like most popular shows and programmes, and following in the footsteps of Scooby Doo and The Rugrats, there has to be a film, and that is what I am going to discus with you.
Spongebob Squarepants (voice of Tom Kenny) works in the Krusty Krab as a burger cook, along with his neighbour (who hates him) Squidword. He loves his job and one morning wakes with the knowledge that his boss Mr Krabs is about ...

...watched that much of the Spongebob Squarepants series on TV but I was given this dvd as a present and I was pleasantly surprised! It is a really funny movie, and who couldn't fall in love with the cute trouser-wearing sponge?
The storyline of the film is that someone has stolen King Neptune's crown and it is up to Spongebob to retrieve it in order to clear the name of his boss, Mr Krabs. Neptunes crown turns out to be in Shell City, one of the most ... ...it is so scary! Yet Spongebob saves the day and manages to get the crown back and saves Mr Krabs.
I think Patrick, Spongebobs best friend, is my favourite character. He is so cute and funny.
The dvd has some good extra features on it such as 'Saving The Surf' and 'Animatics'. The film also has some really catchy tunes in it.
I don't think this is just a film for children, I find that Spongebob has quite a cult following. This film is funny and ...

Advantages: Amusing, Not to long a film, Great watch for any fan, suitable for children Disadvantages: Some mild violence might be unsuitable for some children, storyline is a bit disapointing
The Spongebob Sqaurepants Movie is a must watch for any Spongebob fans!
I have watched this movie about 6 times and everytime I enjoy watching it.
It is a very amusing movie and will make you laugh!
Sadly, I was slightly disapointed with the Storyline. It was very easy to guess what would happen and got a bit boring at some places, but luckily the laughs managed to stop it from getting to disapointing!
Its a great film and in my opinion suitable ... ...rated U due to some mild violence. The movie is about 83 minutes long. This means that it is not too long and not to short. Its a very good film to help get those kids to calm down and keep them busy.
The quality is very high, even if the storyline is a slight let down. Although children will find the storyline a lot better than I did as they might not try to work out whats going to happen.
The film is also very cheap! I picked it up for £5 and ...

Rumour has it that it's actually a children's cartoon...OK so it is but it's one that doesn't forget the parents and students who watch it too ! (The sarcasm and dry humour that is Squidward can't be intended just for the kids ?!?)

You'll know if you watch the cartoon (with the kids of course) on TV that Spongebob the lovable yellow fellow and his neighbours, Squidward the sarcastic Squid and Patrick the 'not so bright' Star Fish all reside in a place called Bikini Bottom. SpongebobSquarepants is the Fry chef (burger cook ...

DVD Description
A passion for drawing, a penchant for the films of Jacques Cousteau, and a career as a marine biologist were SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS creator Stephen Hillenburg's inspirations for bringing this fun character to life. A hugely popular Nickelodeon show based on SpongeBob inspires THE SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS MOVIE, which brings the oceanic cast of animated oddballs to the big screen. The bubbly inhabitants of Bikini Bottom are in more trouble than a sinking ship at the start of the film. The evil Plankton (Doug Lawrence) has hatched a plan to send the Krusty Krab burger chain out of business. He steals the secret formula for the delicious Krabby Patty and then frames Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) for the theft of King Neptune's (Jeffrey Tambor) crown. With all eyes on Mr. Krabs, Plankton starts selling Krabby Patties at his own Chum Bucket restaurant. Just then, SpongeBob (Tom Kenny) steps in and, with his starfish pal Patrick (Rick Faggerbakke), sets out to find the crown and get Mr. Krabs out of hot water. What follows is an epic adventure in which the pair encounter some slippery villains, and a hero in the form of special guest star David Hasselhoff--who appears as himself in a bizarre fusion of animation and live action. SpongeBob and Patrick frantically race back to Bikini Bottom to stop megalomaniacal Plankton from taking over the world. All of this is played out before an eclectic soundtrack, which pairs indie rockers like The Flaming Lips and Wilco with teen-pop princess Avril Lavigne. Taking its first triumphant step into the feature film world, SPONGEBOB soaks up an enthusiastic crowd of children and adults alike.
