These are The Sponge Who Could Fly, a double length episode as is usual as the first on a DVD. The none animated Patchy has lost it! After he rediscovers it we get to learn about the time Spongebob tries to fly like the jellyfish.
'If only I could join you there in the air/ floating free without a care'
He finds a way to fly like the jellys but sadly his good nature means his invention makes him become a stooge to the locals, but after losing his flying pants the jellyfish take pity on him and take him for a flight.
'If you want to fly all you need is. Friendship'
I cant believe how much Spongebob merchandise there is, I must start saving to get more........ or move in to Patchy's house.
Plankton. Mr Krabbs enemy Plankton and another of his dastardly plots to try and capture the elusive Krabby Patty formula. Plankton takes control of Spongebob's brain (he has one?) after our hero has turned down a gift of a golden spatula in exchange for the formula.
'I let you down, delicate little Krabby Patty'
Boating School. As we landdwellers must pass a test to drive a car so the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom must pass a boat test to be allowed out on the roads waterside (this happens to be on March 3rd if anyone is interested). We watch as Spongebob goes to try again to get his Boating Licence, with a little help from Patrick.
Who do we feel more sorry for Mrs Puff or Spongebob? As he resits his test for the 39th time.
'Now its time to once again take the driving portion of the test.'
'Whats pink and sqaure at the same time? Patrick Squarepants!'
Suds. Spongebob gets sick, Patrick tries to help, after all the horrid fate that awaits at the doctors, must be avoided at all costs! But it is Sandys intervention which saves him. After Spongebob loves his treatment Patrick gets his come uppance for impersonating a doctor.
'Ive not got the suds, If I had bubbles would be coming out of me *pop*'
'I know a guy who knows a guy who went to the doctors.. first they make you sit in the waiting room...'
Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy 2. Spongebob wins a contest, the prize is an item from the TV series Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy. It is the conch signal, which calls the ageing superheroes to aid the blower.
But Spongebob begins to see danger everywhere and soon loses the respect of his heros, but Mermaidman remembers a time when Barnacle Boy was an enthusiastic youngster and they soon become friends. And it falls to Spongebob to rescue his heros from their archnemesis.
'I knew making the boatmobile invisible was a stupid idea'
The Chaparone. Mr Krabs daughter Pearl has been stood up by her prom date, and Spongebob agrees to accompany her. Somehow our short square yellow friend needs to become tall dark and handsome.
His mishaps at the Prom will keep you amused and will introduce a new dance 'The Sponge'.
'Go easy on him lassie, I cant afford to break in a new fry cook!'
Bubble Buddy. Bubble Buddy is Spongebob's new friend one who isnt leaving him notes to explain their abscence, trouble is he is made of bubbles. But bubble buddy cant play on a seesaw, order his own food, but best of all Squidward hates him! And people have to wait for over 2 hours to use the toilet.
'Oh no! These Krabby Pattys have cheese on them, Bubble Buddy is lactose intolerant!'
Your Shoe's Untied. Who can help Patrick tie his shoes? Why Spongebob of course, but what happens when Spongbob forgets? And why does Gary know how to tie a shoelace when he doesnt even have feet?
There is a great little song to help teach children how to tie a shoelace, making this the most overt message contained in any episode I can recall.
'We can wear our shoes on our hands and gloves on our feet and hats on our captains quarters!'
Pre-Hibernation Week. As a LandSquirrel Sandy has to hibernate for the winter, so she has to rake the leaves and complete numerous tasks. But in the end Spongebob is so tired he starts to try and avoid Sandy to get a rest from her extreme ideas and dangerous pastimes all of which she wants to complete before her Hibernation begins.
'This is going to be fun, we just whack each other with these giant ear bleeders until one of us falls off.'
Each episode has a moral if might care to find it, though personally I prefer to just watch and enjoy the yellow spongey fun. The bright colours and cheerful sounds are apparently what enthrall children but also me, you can be certain that a child will be safe watching this, and it is almost certain that even adults will enjoy Spongebob (even just a little bit, you know its true).
Call me simple but it amuses me that underwater they need lighthouses to keep ships off the rocks, that they have ships which 'sail on the water', the references to the air being immediately above them, airplanes in the water, a beach at Goo Lagoon, boats with wheels for in town. (Finished calling me simple yet? No, OK then but read the rest then carry on, please).
The DVD has 110 minutes of Spongebob episodes on, typically they are 10 to 15 minutes in length so are perfect for filling the gaps between other programs or even for whileing away an eveing as I'm doing. As Spongebob is a 'childrens' cartoon (totally wasted on children but never mind) the DVD is rated U. As this was a multipack DVD it doesnt have the extras that some copies may have though these usually run to a commentary with Stephen Hillenburgh and a story board for one of the episodes.
Advantages: Nine SpongeBob shows on one DVD, very funny shows, DVD extras Disadvantages: You won't want to wash the dishes with a sponge after watching this DVD!
I found myself sporting my SpongeBob boxers again! I could not help myself. I popped in the Nickelodeon DVD and the boy freshly adorned with SpongeBob slippers and T-shirt sat down to watch the 110 minutes of SpongeBob SquarePants: Lost at Sea. It is a collection of nine episodes of the show headlined with the double length show The Sponge who could fly. The magic that is SpongeBob
As already stated, this is a collection from the show. It is a little ... ...the jellyfish of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob concocts a master plan to learn to fly like the jellies. Patrick gets in on the deal to help the plan to come together. Sure to bring a tear to your eye! Plankton: This episode introduces you to Plankton, Mr. Krab's archenemy. Plankton is forever seeking to steal the recipe to Mr. Krab's crabby patty. Plankton wants the formula for his own restaurant, The Chum Bucket. The best line from this show: "Shwing…sparkle, ...
