When Mr Reginald Joseph Mitchell designed the Supermarine S.5 Seaplane to enter the Schneider Trophy Race in 1927 he didn't realise he'd started on the base of an Aircraft that still captures hearts today.
In 1936 a Prototype Aircraft with the Ministry of Defence number F37/34 had completed Ground Trials and engine run-up tests. This Aircraft had the Registration K5054. (A well known Reg in Aviation Circles)

Advantages: Full of Facts Disadvantages: Mainly Black & White.
...keeps the peace (tries to) across the world.
You see Footage of WWI Fighter/Bombers like the Sopwith Camel to the WWII Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster and even the Vickers Wellington.
Then you see the the Hawker Hunter, McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom ( A truly inspiring plane at Airshows), The Vickers Vallient, Avro Vulcan and the Victor. Then you see the Panavia Tornado.
A Great DVD for the short history of an Amazing Fightning Force.

Advantages: Real Aircraft, Stunning Photography Disadvantages: Marital sub plots
...competing in dogfights, except of course for the rather dodgy effects and exploding model aeroplanes. If you can try and forget the quality that CGI brings to modern films and take this at face value you will enjoy the film. Many of the planes came from private collections namely the Hurricanes and Spitfires with the majority of the German aircraft such as the Bf 109’s and Heinkel He 111’s being borrowed from the Spanish air force at the time.
The film aside the plus points to the ‘Special Edition’ DVD come in the form of the ‘Extras’ on the other Disk. The documentaries on the making of the film are fascinating, for example it is explained that the aircraft borrowed from Spain were all re painted in German markings and flown over to Britain. The French weren’t particularly happy about having a Luftwaffe Squadron in full German markings...
