Advantages: Nice special effects! Disadvantages: Dull script - boring!
I saw VerticalLimit because of the trailers and adverts. It really did look like an excellent film, I went into my local Odeon (a few months ago) with high hopes and I left disappointed. Sure the fancy special effects dazzled me but the script didn’t. The first hour of the film are very impressive, however it goes down hill from there. The film begins in the same location that Mission Impossible 2 was shot.
For those that don’t know the film is about a group of climbers who daringly climb K2. A group leave to climb the mountain and as you will have guessed a storm occurs, the group of 3 are divided on whether to turn back or carry on. They decide to carry on. They fall under an ice sheet and the ending well I don’t want to give it away I’ll just say that the film ends in true American movie style ...
Advantages: Great start to the SpiderMan franchise Disadvantages: None
picks a fight with Peter. Peter dodges all of Flashes's punches and throws him across the floor.
Peter runs out into an alley, he knows that the spider has altered something in his body and starts to realise he can climb a wall and spin webs !!
That is just the beginning of the film and I won't spoil it by telling you anymore of the plotline.
The DVD I am reviewing is the region 1 two disk set which is basically the same as the region 2 version.
This 2 disk set has the following :
Disk 1
SpiderMan the film
English and French dolby digital 5.1
English, French, and Spanish subtitles.
This has commentaries by Sam Raimi the director, Kirsten Dunst, Laura Ziskin (producer), and Grant Curtis (co producer)
All of these give a wonderful job of telling you all of their experiences of the making of the film in good detailed depth ...
Advantages: Superb, brain-in-netral campy fun with non-stop flashy action sequences Disadvantages: Very 'music video' in style, Tom Green sucks, not for the curmudgeonly...and don't expect to expand your mind here!
of the elusive Charlie so there's at least one cameo appearance for the fans. Also along for the ride comes the superb Bill Murray and bad guys Tim Curry and his surprisingly sinister henchman Crispin Glover...I said it had a great cast! Anyhoo, the storyline follows the same format as one of the shows, blasting straight into the action and having Charlie introduce his sassy, butt-kicking angels in supremely camp 70s style as they pull off a ludicrous stunt with winning smiles and jiggly cleavage. The tone of the movie is set immediately, tongue-in-cheek, camp and rampantly unashamed of it! And impossible not to be carried along with the fun...
We are soon introduced to Bosley(Bill Murray), the owner of the detective agency through which Charlie speaks to his girls. They have a case, the owner of some kind of techie company has been kidnapped by ...
