Ok...so spider in the bath is a great chidrens animation which children love to watch or all day long. But is it all good and could this animation actually be doing bad to young children?? This review looks at the good and bad point of this catoon and what children actually think of it as i have done a survey on children.
GOOD?? Ok so its a rainy day, your children are getting tired and you just want them to be quiet..What do you do? Is 'Spider in the bath' the first dvd you choose? Some say yes of course it is...its a nice friendly dvd with characters of my childs' age. They can watch it over and over again as they dont really get bored of seeing the characters. They find it amazing how a child there same age likes spider and see's them as a friend rather than something you point and scream at. Most children, when they see a spider, will run away from a spider and be extreamlly scared of something that isnt that scary! Another good reason about this dvd is that its an animation. This can always be a good thing because if a child gets scared of something that they see on the dvd, you can always tell them ''its only a cartoon, it isnt real!''...always an advantage when you have small children!
BAD?? Could this dv be such bad thing? Do you not see it as a child friendly animation which entertain your child for most of a rainy day?..Some people might agree with you. As its an animation series children could get confused as to whats really and whats not. Isthere really such thing as a spider that comes out of a plug hole a is friendly with a small child..There obivously isnt as this is made up, but would a child the age of 4 or 5 know this? Imagin next time they go have a bath, they might exspect to find a spider that talks to them! =S Not a good start to a childs mind really is it! More over..a child the age of 4 might not really have seen a spider before...but knows what one looks like. Therefore, if they are watching this dvd then they might get into there head that spiders are a bad thing. Not because the spider in this dvd does anythingbad but because they might bet scared of something to do with the fact that if you go to have a bath...than a spider will pop out!! Imagin that! Your child scared of having a bah because they watched a dvd where a spider came out of the puld hole!!!
So what do children think? Im no exspert on childs dvds and how children think, but i have 2 smaller brother and 1 smaller sister. I asked them weather they would watch this, if they would get scared, or if they would watch this again. I got these responses... Boy aged 5 ''I love watching the dvd because its dead funny when the spider comes out of the plug hole because its funny'' ''I would watch it again because it make me laugh because you dont always see a spider coming out of the plug hole when your having a bath''!! ''It didnt scare me one bit because its only pretend not real!''
Boy aged 3 and half I''v only watched it once because it is funny but sometimes i get a tiny tiny bit scared because you dont no when the spider is going to come out of the plug hole!'' ''I was watching it with mum though so mum said its only pretend so i dont need t worry!!'' ''I think i would watch this again..but only with mum because she tells me whats really and whats not!''
Girl aged 5..(twin) ''Its well funny this dvd..I think iv watched it about 100 times!!'' I watch it with tom (twin) because hes always telling me when it isnt really..but sometimes he spoils it because he tell me and it spoils it!!'' ''Its well annoying!''
These are from my younger brothers and sisters who have this dvd. They seen to like it and dont get scared from the fact that its a spider in the bath! They would watch it again but as they have said mainly with my mum or dad. This dvd is definaltly for the younger children but i would advise that you watch it with them...as its rather confusing when they ask questions about spiders in a bath!!! Hope it helps x x x
