...you wanting more. It's sequel, Speed 2 Cruise Control, is terrible. The action sequences are limp, the adrenaline pumping moments of tension non-existent and the script appalling. Replacing Keanu Reeves from the first film is action man Jason Patric, who looks good on screen but is merely a cardboard cut out action man, in the vein of Jean Claude Van Damme, but much much worse. Reeves obviously had the sense to jump ship (excuse the pun!), but Sandra ... ...pressure, the cruise ship in Speed 2 is like a lead weight, you just can't create tension on a boat!! During the part of the film where the crew are desperately trying to stop the ship from hitting an oil tanker, it takes an age for the boat to reach the tanker, thus eliminating any sense of excitement. I was actually hoping they would crash, just to rid us of the extremely irritating Bullock, who's stupidity, rather then being cute like in the first ...

Granted this movie is not as good as its incredible prequel but it can still hold its own as an entertaining action flick. Jason Patric fits into the role of hero very well and is superb in the action sequences where he performed a lot of his own stunts. Speed was a pretty decetn action film with a good premise that was well executed. naturally the formula cleaned up at the box office and a sequel was put into motion. Keanu Reeves passed on the idea and quite wisely yet Sandra Bullock reuruned and has only just started to recover from the debacle. Speed 2 isn't just an average film, it's a terrible one with a badly concieved idea. The first film takes place on a bus with traffic all around, Los Angeles ... ...box office and it widely loathed but quite a lot of people. Thankfully I won my copy which I've duly got rid of. Speed 2 will waste 2 hours of your life and if you fork out for the dvd you'll feel shafted in a very nasty way. ...

Much as I like Sandra Bullock I did not find this film as good as the original (for as full discussion of the merits of sequels watch the film Scream 2).
I thought Willem Dafoe put in a passable performance as the villain (though I find it hard to imagine him as anything else). However I am not so sure that I thought that the basic premise was all that good. Evil computer geniuses and disgruntled employees do seem to abound in Hollywood. Maybe there ... ...cheesed off fired computer people.
Jason Patric was okay as the hero but I just flet that the whole thing was a bit lacklustre. That's not to say that there wasn't any action in it. I think it was just that it was going to have a hard time following the original.
Perhaps that is due to the fact that Dennis Hopper made such a good villain in the first film. I think also that the second was a bit too schmaltzy for want of abetter word. At the end ...

Hi have watched both of these DVD, whilst Speed the original is an all time classic with intense action through the entire movie, Speed2 - cruisecontrol in my opinion does not live up to the legacy of the original. The resolution of DVD, and Dolby digital sound is as cutting edge as it gets and this DVD pack would unfortunatley not be on my xmas list this year but if you know any die hard Speed fans then this is a must!!! Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock create thrilling scenes together. There are a host of other movies with Keanu Reeves which to me as a "man" provide more exciting and griping action, i.e. the matrix trilogy and point break. ...

Speed 1 in my opinion is one of the greatest action movies of all time. speed2 however tried to cash in on the first films sucess and failed horribly.
The first speed movie follows the adventure of a cop who gets caught up with a mad mans atempt to become rich by using certain devalish plots. The main one of which being putting a bomb on a bus so that if it goes under 50mph thenit will expolode. if this sounds like a good plot in your eyes then this is for you.
The second film is not worth your time at all. The god awfull film follows a ship as it is plotted a course to crash into an oil tanker by you typical evil genius. Its ones of the worst movies ever made.
If i were you i would buy speed 1 on its own as its cheaper and if your like me you would preffer to have just the 1 DVD in the box. ...

up driving with Keanu the cop trying to save them. Jeff Daniels is Det. Harold 'Harry' Temple who is Keanu's side kick trying to track down the baddy from his office and he does a very good job of it. This film has an explosive ending but not without the odd twist to go with it. If you have not seen this film you are missing out.
Now where do start about speed2. IT?S CRAP. Same story line on a boat CruiseControl with Jason Patric replacing Keanu. This is one of the most over acted films in the history of films and sandra Bullock really does get 10/10 for it. If you want a good nights sleep its a must watch. Speed2 ends up with some very predicalbe and needed destruction as the speeding ship crashes into the island of St. Martin and if there was any justice in this world all the actors and the writers and anyone to do with this film ...

DVD Description
Spry "Speed" survivor Annie Porter (Bullock) can't seem to escape maniacal terrorists, as she discovers soon after boarding a posh luxury liner with her engagement-minded boyfriend, Alex. The bad news is that the disgruntled--and recently fired--mastermind behind the ship's electronic control systems wants revenge against the ship's management, so he sets the ship on a collision course with such deadly targets as an offshore oil tanker.
