Top Gear - Box Set Advantages: Three DVDs full of motoring mayhem! Disadvantages: Some sequences are shortened This top gear boxset contains three seperate DVDs, Back in the fast lane (best of series 1 and 2), revved up (best of series 3 and 4), and The winter olympic special. I am a big fan of top gear and watch it every week, enjoying the humour and excitement that Clarkson, Hammond and May, bring to the world of cars. I have to say I prefer watching the more miscellaneos sequences (the races, challenges etc), to just watching one of the presenters thrash ... ...the first two series's of Top Gear. It is the most serious of the three DVDs, and puts such cars as the Pagani Zonda, Mcclaren F1, and the Rolls-Royce phantom to test. These mini reviews tend to be short and quite boring, as each is pretty much the same, with each car being driven round the test track as fast as it will go, whilst being dragged around corners in vast amounts of tyre smoke. Top workout Advantages: Easy to follow, needs little space Disadvantages: music is boring! ...see results really quickly. Nell does say suitable for all fitness levels but if you are new to dvd's or exercise I really would take it steady as it is quite repetitive and may be hard first few times! The instructor does have a dull voice, but I didn't find that a problem as I was interested in following the moves! The moves are very simple, no complicated twists or grapevines, simply joggin on the spot, and squatting. Excellent abs and bums ... Top Gear Winter Olympics Advantages: Once again hilarious entertainment from Top Gear Disadvantages: Lack of extra unseen footage ...is one of the funniest Top Gears I have seen. It's adrenaline filled stunts, and hilarious pranks are a must see for all car fans. Being bored with the traditional Winter Olympics, Top Gear decided to put their own unique twists to the events, so, we end up watching James May racing Jeremy Clarkson in a petrol powered biathlon, where the loser must eat golden snow. We also see car-hockey in Suzuki Swifts, Jezza racing an ice skater in a Jaguar XK, ... ...powered mini. So, the usual Top Gear tomfoolery! After watching the Top Gear Winter Olympics on DVD, I must say I was disappointed with the lack of extras on the DVD. It does show some out takes, but they are mostly of Jeremy trying to do a promo for BBC World whilst obviously distracted by an attractive woman behind him! I would have liked out takes of the actual Winter Olympics, and some unseen footage too. The other DVD is better Advantages: Good work-out, all rounder. Disadvantages: Same as Ultimate Challenge, music not very motivating After purchasing Nell McAndrew's 'Ultimate Challenge' DVD I liked it so much that I decided to buy the earlier 'Peak Energy' DVD to vary my exercise routine. 'Peak Energy' has a cardiac section, a weights section for arm toning and a floor work out section. I was aware from reviews that this DVD was similar to the 'Ultimate Challenge' DVD but when I watched it I was amazed at exactly how similar it is!!!!! I could see no difference in the cardio ... ...is in the floor work out at the end. Frankly, I feel a bit ripped off because of this. The music on 'Peak Energy' is vertually just one continuous beat whereas the music on 'ultimate Challenge' has some motivating moments. If you are considerring one of Nell's DVD's I would recommend 'Ultimate Challenge' and not 'Peak Energy' and definately don't bother buying them both!!!!! ... This really is the Ultimate Challenge! Advantages: A real challenge, straight up fitness, no chit chat Disadvantages: Army Man is a liar, strange camera angles at times ...workout DVDs, I’d always avoided Nell McAndrew’s output as they were recommended as only suitable for the ultra fit. But after 3 months of Davina every day I decided I was ready for a challenge. The workout is certainly not one for those who class themselves as unfit! Nell claims she used this class when in training for the London Marathon which should give you some idea of what to expect! It consists mainly of running on the spot while simultaneously ... ...celeb DVD – in fact, Nell barely utters a word throughout the entire workout! None of the inane chatter that you get with Davina, this is straight up fitness and I find I really enjoy that about it. The workout is led by an Army-style shouting man who I actually find strangely motivating and certainly keeps me going for far longer than I am able to run under my own steam.
