From a novice artist
Advantages: Clear, easily understood instruction, suitable for the absolute beginner Disadvantages: limited source of inspiration to that of what interests the presenter
This a complete course about watercolor painting. The presenter Alwyn Cranshaw has also written a few books on the subject so it easy to cross reference the information. As this is my first attempts at watercolor I am so far happy with the results of the techniques I have learned which in turn has improved my own confidence in the medium. Alwyn's presentation is kept simple throughout and he does not complicate the subject with an array of technical ...

Miami Ink!
Advantages: Interesting to watch, loads of cool tattoos to look at Disadvantages: Often I find myself wanting a tattoo done by Chris Garver but unfortunately I don't live in Americ
Miami Ink, if you haven't heard about it already, is a TV show about a tattoo parlour in Miami (if you hadn't already guessed!). The series began in July 2005, introducing four eager tattooists, Ami James, Chris Nunez, Chris Garver and Darren Brass, as well as Ami's apprentice, Yoji Harada. Throughout the episodes new tattooists enter and go, the most famous probably being Kat Von D who turned the studio around with her beautiful portrait tattoos. ... ...shows I like! Since Miami Ink there have been a couple of spin offs, for example LA Ink and London Ink. I don't think either of them are as good as the original Miami version, but it is definitely interesting to see how the London one works - though it's nowhere near as polished or well-edited as Miami Ink is. Actually, the quality is quite poor and portrays the British tattooists as quite rude and the studio as quite dim and grimy! I'd like if they ...

Get A Round In
Advantages: Good Fun Disadvantages: Doesn't Last Long Enough
...always made me wonder what the fuss might be about. It's not something I have contemplated before but then, I have a man who plays the XBox 360 all the time so anything on a DVD game would seem tame. Right?
Well, I was inclined to agree. But then I spotted this one on Play.com and found it had gone through the checkout before I knew what I had done. It must have been the yellow outer to the casing or the highlighting of the word PUB that got me ... ...on it. Clean broke the case in half! Still, he persuaded me to have a go. He said it would be a good change.
On went the TV, the DVD player, the comfy pillow onto the sofa, the bottle of wine glugging gently down his throat and me say wondering what I had gotten myself into.
When you first get the DVD in you get a basic screen with a picture very similar to that on the case. I would describe it but Ciao have a picture of it - so look at the top ...

Trick of the Mind
Advantages: Amazing acts and entertaining, Disadvantages: none
...been a big fan of Derren Brown for many years and have enjoyed all the TV shows he has made.
So who is Derren V Brown?
Derren was born in Croydon on 27th February 1971. He went to Bristol University to study Law and German even though he had no real interest in the subjects. At university he went to see illusionist Ian Rowland which is how he became interested in magic. He debated on what area to concentrate on. He didn’t like the whole aspect ... ...channel 4 in 2000 called Derren Brown: Mind Control which was a big success which has resulted in a number of television series and different TV specials being produced over the years. The Russian roulette special got him even more public attention when he tried NOT to shot himself in the head. Even though it was highly criticised it was actually the TV special Séance that resulted in the most complaints. He has other interest other than freaking ...

Win yourself a million from the comfort of your armchair.
Advantages: Recreates the thrills and tension of the show. Somewhat addictive. Disadvantages: Questions are repeated perhaps too often.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire has been on our TV screens since 1998, and has confirmed itself as one of the most popular and compelling gameshows in history. Before the release of this and the computer games based on the show, we were helplessly shouting at our screens, urging the contestant to pick what we thought was the right answer to the questions. Now thanks to this simulation DVD game, we can now play the game for ourselves in an experience ... ...to actually sitting opposite host Chris Tarrant than actually appearing on the TV show. The rules are simple. Answer 15 multiple choice questions correctly in a row to win a cool million pounds. Sounds easy, and you even get 3 lifelines to use along the way (50/50, phone a friend and ask the audience). It's not so easy unfortunately, as the questions get increasingly harder the further up the money ladder you go. At any point you can take the money ...
