After a few minutes, it is clear that this is going to stand head and shoulders above the rest which is due, in large part, to the immense performance of Academy Award Winner Tom Hanks, but also to a tremendous true story of bravery, skill and hope. ...Man On Fire is one of the best films I have seen in the past 18 months and has successfully made its way onto my "Top 10 Films of all time". Although it probably didn't gross as much as it deserved through the cinema (in my opinion down to poor marketing) it is a must see DVD experience. I was apprehensive that Denzel Washington would be playing the stereo-typical down trodden black man but his performance is more than that. He keeps you guessing throughout the film what has caused him to act in the manner he does; although never clearly explained it allows you to make your own assumptions. I really enjoyed the way the film was shot (no pun intended) as it gave you a real feel for what certain areas of Mexico City must be like, the music throughout the film is also fantastic; fans of the Gladiator soundtrack will not be... ...Every track on this dvd is performed with the ease of true professionals, you know when you have a good band on your hands when the live performance is spot on with the radio and cd versions. The intro uses a 70s style tv sequence to bring the band ontp stage, which is quite cool and there they are no messing about, straight to it with 'Brianstorm' to get the crowd up for it. This is then followed by 'This House is a Circus' and 'Teddy Picker' before they throw the classic 'I Bet you look good on the dancefloor' out there. Two major hits in the first four songs seems a weird way to start the show but anyone who goes to an arctics concert knows that there two albums are littered with anthems, so it really doesnt matter what the set list is. BIt gutted they didnt perform Riot Van or Temptation but i suppose they cant stay on there... Read review
