There was a time when Simon Pegg wasn't appearing in bad Star Trek films and starring in exceptional sitcoms which he had a big hand in writing - this is Spaced.
Now starting to edge over the ten years old mark, Spaced was a sitcom regarding two strangers (played by Pegg and Jessica Stevenson) who meet in a greasy spoon café, and figure out they both need somewhere to live, despite barely knowing each other. They move into a two bedroom flat owned by the creepy landlady Marsha and then the tales begin.
The two series predominantly feature storylines regarding Pegg and Stevenson's characters - Tim Bisley and Daisy Steiner - but there are other characters heavily featured. Tim's best friend Mike (played by Pegg's good friend Nick Frost who stars in the likes of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead) is a 'weapons enthuasiast' and plays ...

I remember as a kid having a toy ?Eagle? and really enjoying each episode. You can get it on DVD or catch the repeats on ITV4, daily.
At the time the sets where clever and innovative and the scripts fresh and different. The special effects where not up to much but then it was 1975, oops sorry, 1999.
The acting was ok and the introduction of Maya as a shape changer added new ideas and possibilities to the adventures each week. As with Star Trek the main crew never died, except for Victor, see below, and so you could easily see who was going to die and it was usually the new face sitting next to a main cast member.
Worth a watch even if only for the nostalgia.

When I heard that a film called Zathura was to be released back in 2006 I was intrigued as could it really live up to Jumanji - after all it was titled 'Zathura - A space adventure' and had the tagline 'from the world of Jumanji'. So it was obviously being marketed as the next and more modern Jumanji but could it really be as good?
The story:
Two squabbling brothers, Danny and Walter end up playing an old game found in their basement out of boredom when their Dad leaves their older sister Lisa, in charge whilst he goes to work. Before they realise ...
