It also has other features like about 3 different guests will come onto the show e.g. one could be an injured footballer, one could be a celebrity and another could be a few band members for a music group. Not only do they have guests and football highlights they also have 8 fans in from a certain football team and some of the crew members have their own part of the show like Tube's question. No this is a big hit on TV soothe first DVD, Soccer AM 1, was quite good so this DVD had good expectations.
In Soccer AM 2 it is different to the normal show as they like to focus on a certain idea that do just another show but on a DVD so they tend to pick certain highlights from recent years. This DVD it was the turn of celebrating past players so that's why the sub heading of the Soccer AM 2 DVD was the ten greatest players of the last ten years.
The DVD has been looked at by some companies and some good things have been said about Soccer AM such as "Soccer AM is the best thing to happen to Saturday-morning TV since Tiswas flung its final flan" and that was from GQ magazine.
The Soccer AM 2 DVD is presented by the same people as the Saturday morning show, and that contains Tim Lovejoy, who actually wrote and produced this DVD and Helen Chamberlain. This DVD was mainly brought out to celebrate the 10th season of Soccer AM so it makes sense that the DVD looks back at the last 10 years of great footballers.
The Soccer AM 2 DVD does also have a few favourites from the Soccer AM crew and they are Sheephead who normally does topless weather, Fenner's who did a lot of the jokes Tubes who always has one question to ask and Rocket. Unfortunately Sheephead, Fenner's and Tim Lovejoy aren't in Soccer AM anymore as they have moved on but for this DVD it has some really jokes that you can't help laughing at.
The DVD features some great players in the history of the last 10 years with people such as Eric Cantona, Zinedine Zidane and even some British talent like Paul Gascoigne and David Beckham. There are 6 more but I don't want to ruin the surprise of who made it too the top ten. Being a Manchester United fan I was thrilled to see the likes of Eric Cantona and David Beckham in the top ten players list of the last ten years so I knew this would make me enjoy the DVD a bit more.
The DVD also has some extras such as the Muddy Mackems which is fun to watch, as you don't expect it at football games more like at something like Glastonbury. It also has the Manchester United lightning incident where they were training when lightning struck and some of the players reaction were hilarious considering some players ducked when lighting went off and basically ran in for cover which is definitely worth a watch. The other feature is Tim's Hit which helps add to the features list and give the DVD slightly more depth than just clips of footballers greats.
The music is great in this as Soccer AM like to use music a lot in the main show they have transferred that love and put it into the DVD with some good tracks to play when showing the clips of some of the greatest players in the last 10 years. This is a good point of the DVD I feel as I think it helps build a bit of excitement when watching the football clips and I suppose it makes sense as it wouldn't be good as when every new clip starts there would be a sudden change in noise if they kept the crowd and commentator noise and it wouldn't mix well so playing music throughout all the clips is much better.
This DVD is in English considering it is an English show, first shown on English TV and the crew are mostly English. The DVD itself does have subtitles if needed but this will only be about half of the DVD as a lot is none talking. It was released on the 14th November 2005 so from this review it is already nearly two years old which is worth thinking about, as there has been some great players appear in the last two years. The DVD itself comes with just the one disc which makes sense as the DVD only runs for 58 minutes. I think this is a bit of a bad point considering you are spending money for a DVD and it doesn't even last for one hour. For the amount your pay you could be buying a film which could have extras and making of, which last for over three hours for the same price so its worth thinking about.
Overall I like the DVD as I think it is a good laugh and has all the fun and excitement of the Soccer AM show on a Saturday morning but the fact that it is only 58 minutes long does put a lot of people off considering the price. I think you have to be a Soccer AM fan or like to watch the history of some good football moments to like this DVD otherwise you may want to look for cheaper football DVD's but you may not get the laughs like you do on this DVD. I do feel this could just be a way to get money as I think more effort goes into the show and the DVD wasn't really thought out as well as it could have been considering it is so short so I feel slightly like I have spent lot of money for a few clips which did leave me slightly annoyed considering I am a fan of Soccer AM but I probably won't buy any more unless they are much cheaper. I would think around the £5 mark is suitable for this DVD but for a Soccer AM fan I can see this being a buy just to add to their collection.
Advantages: Some good Jokes Disadvantages: A Lot of old tired jokes
involved
Paddy v's SoccerAM sketch
Photo Gallery
Me and my hubby did watch these features and thought that the Life on the Dark side sketch was very funny, maybe even funnier than some of the jokes in his show. I was surprised by some of the celebrities which were featured, Robbie even made an appearance for this one. The soccerAM sketch was very average and the photo gallery was quite boring really.
The DVD which I have cost me £2 from EBay which is a good bargain. It was released in 2006 and has a running time of 67 minutes which I feel is just long enough.
The DVD does have a 15 certificate which I feel is appropriate as long as it is mature 15 year olds which are watching.
I would recommend this DVD to watch as long as you don't expect too much and you are not expecting to be uncontrollably laughing in you seat, if you ...
Advantages: Relive many of the greatest goals ever Disadvantages: A short Dvd that wouldnt be everyones cup of tea
adore football, as many would find it boring. The DVD would most likely to be around the £6 mark, as socceram have released Socceram2.
Goals include the unforgetable goal from Michael Owen against Argentina from France 98 when he took it from the half wat line only to beat Carlos Roa, and many more i won't say as i dont want to ruin it for you
