Five golden retrievers who are all brother and sister are all living in Washington, within a few minutes from each other. They meet up in the park every morning, but this particular morning Budderball is on the run from Miss Mittens who’s angry at him chasing her kitten, then Budderball sees an ice-cream truck and dives in. Rosebud, Buddha, B-Dog and Mud-Bud go to rescue him before the delivery driver gets back, but they end up shut in the container.
The container is on its way to Alaska, and when it gets parachuted out of the plane the pups are left in the snow to fend for themselves. After a cold night in a small hole the pups head out, they soon spot Shasta, a husky pup who’s owner, Adam, dreams of owning a dog sled team. Shasta takes the pups back to his home, and they hatch a plan to make Adam’s dream come true.
With Buddy and Molly (the pups parents) determined to find them there’s action occurring from one side of the country to the other. Buddy and Molly enlist the help of Saint Bernard, Bernie.

My Thoughts
=
I shall try to remain positive, despite absolutely detesting films that make animals talk, talking cartoon or computer generated animals are one thing, but actual real dogs and cats are something else.
The storyline was pretty good, if a bit predictable. For children it was a nice happy, touchy feely film, which showed how through team work, even huge obstacles can be overcome. The script however was another thing entirely; it was very weak and very clichéd, and having cure golden retriever pups talking in faux gangsta rap was almost too much to take, but for the sake of the kids I left it on and suffered in silence.
Some of the special effects were absolutely appalling, whereas others I hadn’t noticed until watching some of the DVD extras. One of the pups gets his tongue stuck to an icicle, but I could swear that at one point the tongue was actually coming out of his nose rather than his mouth. Of course the moving mouths on the puppies looked awful, but then I would imagine it’s impossible to make it look good.
For kids I think it’s probably a good film, for adults it’s a bit wishy washy, I certainly wouldn’t recommend anyone buying it, but perhaps renting if there’s nothing else in the video store.
Bonus Features
Bloopers
Mostly scripted bloopers with the dogs saying mildly amusing things that you’d normally hear actors saying in real bloopers
Music Video
Mitchel Musso singing a version of Lean on Me with shots of the puppies in the video, mixed in with Mitchel and the band. Not the best version of the song, but passable.

Extra Info
A bit of sad news I found out after watching the film. 5 of the 20 puppies used to make the film died of the parvovirus during the filming, due to a breeder allowing unvaccinated puppies under 8 weeks old to be imported.
Advantages: Well trained dogs, some nice scenery Disadvantages: Aimed totally at children
Snow Buddies was a film which was recommended to me on Amazon due to the fact that I had looked for Snow Dogs on there and this film is based on a similar theme. The film was not currently available to buy so I was looking forward to when it was released and then I rushed to Tesco to buy it for me and my hubby to watch as we both had fun watching Snow Dogs. The film is based on 5 puppies, the big fella Budderball, rappin' B-Dawg, courageous Rosebud, ... ...aeroplane and landing in the snow in some strange place. The dogs get out of the box and find they have no idea where they are and start off to find some help. They soon meet up with Shasta. Shasta lives with a young boy and his family and the boy dreams of having a dog sled team and being able to race. Shasta takes the puppies back to his home and after a while he asks them if they will help him make a dog sled team for his master. Will the puppies ...
