Advantages: Snoops laid back style of rap. Many special guests. Disadvantages: Too much of Kokane?
SnoopDogg, previously known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, is back with his last effort under the No Limit label. With his contract almost up you'd think he would just roll out an average album. Well you'd be wrong! Snoop has still got his tight laid-back flow that rocketed him to the top of the charts with Doggystyle and the production is still as good as ever.
The Intro starts off the album in a classic SnoopDogg Style as seen in his Doggystyle album.
The first track is "Hennesey N Buddah" referring to Snoop's two favourite things, expensive brandy and marajuana. Featuring Kokane, this song will have everyone up dancing. Snoop produces some great lyrics over a cool tune. 9/10
Second up is Snoop's first release from the album, the self-titled "SnoopDogg (What's My Name Pt 2)". Whats my name was a classic track from his first album ...
Advantages: Charismatic and Humorous Lines, Some Solid Production, Some Good Guests Disadvantages: Terrible Lyricism, Constant Filler, Poor No Limit Guests, Commercial, Cliche Subject Matter
The career of SnoopDogg is something in hip-hop which boggles the mind. Death Row began to fall apart, including the death of rapper Tupac Shakur and the departure of Dre, leaving Snoop to release a mediocre sophomore effort called Doggfather. The album isn't too bad, but it lacks a lot of the things that made his debut such a classic. After this failure, Death Row Records crumbled and Snoop went looking elsewhere to get signed. The first place that gladly picked him up with open arms was ...
Advantages: No weak tracks Disadvantages: Nothing specific
Released in 1993, "Doggystyle" is the debut album from the West Coast rapper known then as Snoop Doggy Dogg. It alongside Dr. Dre's "The Chronic", managed to get then then-upcoming West Coast sub-genre of G-Funk into the public eye. This style, pioneered by Dr. Dre was a type of production which could only really adapt to the gangsta style of West Coast rappers as it used funky rhythm with hard beats.
This was Snoop's most successful album, getting 4x Platinum sales, and regarded as one of the most influential rap albums in terrms of the development of Hip Hop. This is likely due to the fact that the rap game had recently settled out on the West Coast and gangsta rap was introduced, bringing Ice-T, Coolio and NWA to the forefront of rap at the time, and with this and The Chronic", a further stage of development came out as this G ...
