When i first heard the plot for this film i thought the idea was extremely far fetched and wouldnt make for a very pleasing film at all. The whole idea of someone putting hundreds of snakes on a plane to kill a witness to a murder seemed real lame. BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. Snakes on a Plane is one venomous thrill ride like no other film of its kind. It even has its funny moments which makes for a more entertaining watch.

The Plot/ Story

After being witness to a brutal murder by gang lord Eddy Kim (Bryon Lawson) and his mob Sean Jones (Nathan Phillips) is placed under protection by FBI agents Neville Flynn (Samuel L. Jackson) and John Sanders (Mark Houghton) to testify in a highly publicized case in Los Angeles. After an extremely thorough check of the plane for any possible threat and extremely intensified security. The men board the plane happily with the satisfaction that there are no threats to them on board. But they were WRONG. A crate with a time release on it is onboard the plane and before everyone knows it they are up to their necks in slithering soldiers. But the snakes behaviour is very unaturally aggressive as they attack everyone and anything. It is the job of the flight attendants and FBI agents to ensure the safety of all the passengers and especially Sean Jones before they land. The story turns out to be more believable than anyone could think proving me wrong.

How good is the Acting

With big names like Samuel L Jackson and Nathan Phillips amongst the many stars in this film you are guaranteed an all round quality performance. Every person in film plays their part superbly and flawlessly. The drama and action is nail biting and keeps you on your toes. Your always waiting for a snake to jump out and bite someone with a vicious hiss that makes your skin crawl. There is even some humor in this film making it more enjoyable. there is nothing like a few laughs to loosen you up when watching a good old action horror. A favorite part of mine is when a snake is thrown in the microwave and the male member of plane staff taunts the snake (words cant do this moment justice). But it is superb.

How does this compare with similar films?

Compared with other existing films with snakes like Anaconda and Boa. i would definitely say that Snakes on a Plane is way above the level achieved by other existing films featuring similarities.

Special Effects

The special effects are very believable, never once did i not believe what i was seeing it is all convincingly realistic. Never once does it seem far fetched that the snakes are high on chemicals and being driven into full fledged attack mode. Infact i would say that the special effects plays a major part in keeping this movie a step inside the door of reality and keeps it interesting.

Additonal Information

This movie may have been considered a "designer movie" due to its major hype across the internet before box office release. before it even hit the big screen this movie had its budding followers discussing things they thought could happen in the movie and coming up with lots of imaginative and creative story ideas. Some of these fanatics even had a big impact on the directors ideas for the movie which he went back and changed what he had considered the finished product. by adding these little features it kept the best interest for the company and made more of the fans happy, a smart movie in my opinion.

Would i recommend it?

Absolutely why not watch it. its good for laughs and a bit of light entertainment, with a few scares every now and then. A good film with great special effects and good all round acting. its a winner.
