Advantages: Original and simple fighting system, unique levels for battle, multiplayer!

*A review of Super Smash Bros. for N64.* An original fighting game where famous Nintendo and Hal Laboratory characters do battle! Mix it with Mario, fight as Fox, or pick Pikachu - but don't lose it with Luigi! When a character takes damage, instead of having a health bar decrease as in traditional fighting games, a percentage stat - which indicates the likeliness of being knocked out of the stage - increases. The game has weapon-use thrown in for good measure, and the fighting system allows for truly unique levels. The character models are not that high in polygon count so they are fairly angular and the camera can be from afar to keep the characters in view. Sound effects are adequate, but it's nice to do battle along to recognisable Nintendo game themes. Character movements are controlled with the analog stick, and this works ...

Review of Super Smash Brothers (N64)

One DVD you will not "Return to Sender"!

Advantages: No need for a karaoke machine; great tracks; easy use; family fun
Disadvantages: Minimalist graphics

I bought this great little DVD from HMV yesterday as a Christmas present for my mother (sssh!) and whacked it in my laptop immediately to make sure it would play on standard DVD players. For those of you who don't know - and I certainly didn't - many karaoke CDs come in what is called CDG form. CDG is a quick way of writing what is really CD+G: "Compact Dics plus Graphics". These discs have graphics such as background images and lyrics written into the normally unused "subchannel" portion of the tracks and these will only show up when played on a CDG player (such as a karaoke machine). The audio part of these tracks will play on any standard CD player. Karaoke machines tend to be pricey, and moreover I had no intention of dragging one with me on the plane back home for Christmas. The Simpsons - Greatest Hits DVD > Reviews

Advantages: Everything you could want in a TV show
Disadvantages: None

To try and put the greatest hits of The Simpsons onto one disc is foolhardy. There are so many classic, touching, hilarious episodes people love that if they did do a greatest hits package it would be so long that it wouldn't be able to fit on anyone's shelves, that is the quality of this show. So this DVD, part of "The Simpsons Classics", contains 4 episodes, each accredited with some sort of landmark. We have "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", which was the very first episode and deals with Homer not getting his Christmas bonus, but in the end gets something much better. There's the 100th episode "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baddasssss Song" where Bart gets Principal Skinner when he brings Santa's Little Helper into school for show and tell day. There's also "Bart Gets an F" which had the highest ever ratings in America for a Simpsons ...
