"Truth, Justice and...uh other stuff" - Clark Kent in the episode called Drone. Smallville tells the story of future Superman, Clark Kent in his teenage years. On Smallville you'll see Clark Kent's super abilities appear. Starting with Super Speed to X Ray vision then to Defying gravity. The shows creaters used the line "No tights, No flights" to advertise the show. Which basically means that Clark Kent won't be wearing and Superman Costumes anytime soon and that he won't be flying. This show is a great idea for young people who may be unfamiliar with Superman. This way Superman, and everything he stands for (Truth, Justice blah blah blah) can exist for this generation as it has for previous generations. The main Characters are: Clark Kent (Tom Welling), future Superman. He has a secret that only his parent's know. He crashed down to Earth in 1989, his ship crashing in a Corn field only to be discovered by the Kents. He has the look of a farm boy that does all his chores and of a hero. Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). The billionaires son. He came to Smallville to take over a Luthor Corp factory. He is a dark, arrogant person with a secret meaning to everything he says. During the meteor shower that brought Clark to Smallville, Lex lost all his red hair. He classes that day as a miracle ever since and has wondered about the meteor rocks. Lex Luthor happens to be one of my favourite characters in this show. Jonathan (John Schneider) and Martha Kent (Annette O'Toole). These are the two people who found Clark (or did Clark find them?) on the day of the Meteor Shower. As Martha couldn't have children (something they both wanted badly) when Clark appeared before them it was as if a miracle had happened. It was destined for them to adopt Clark and raise him as their own son. Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk). Clark's love interest. The Girl next door. Clark has had feelings for her for years. These two have one of those annoying interactions on the show that make you want to shout "Just kiss her already" at the tv screen more times than you can count. Pete Ross (Sam Jones III). One of Clark's best friends. Clark and Pete have been friends for year and often stops by the Kent farm to see Clark. Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack). A lovable character with hidden feelings for one of her friends. She is the editor of the Torch. The Torch is Smallville High's student run newspaper. Chloe is best friends with Clark and Pete. The three of them are the force that is the Torch. The dvd's themselves (all six of them) boast a few good special features. My favourites were the deleted scene's and the Interactive tour of Smallville. Which tells you about the local places on the show (Kent Farm, High School, Luthor Corp etc) Also if you buy the dvd box set and look at the last page on the booklet you'll see a website address that you can visit and it gives you a username and password. If you go to the site and log in using the password and username you'll be able to see extra things like the Chloe Chronicles. Which is short movies with Chloe interviewing people about strange things that have happened in the episodes. Although i think it could have had more Special features. I would have liked it if there was maybe interviews with the actors or show producers. Maybe even some behind the scene's footage. I think the lack of more special features has to be one of my least favourite things about the DVD box set.
