Ok, hands up all those grown up who soooooooo wanted to fly when they were younger (and to be honest, probably still do). So why exactly was it suddenly a good idea to jump out of your window with your mum running behind you in hysterics? That’s right, the world’s first ever super hero. Named perfectly and obviously thought though with great detail, Superman. There have been many different versions of the great man. Starting with the comic, growing into several movies, a television series (which as a child I watched religiously), a game. Gosh, there are so many different versions that if superman was a real person he would earn a ridiculous amount of money. So when Smallville popped onto my television, I was a bit sceptical. Seriously, how many times can you tell the story without either totally destroying it or just coping something from the past?!? Well, I was pleasantly surprised and am quite happy to admit that I am now addicted.
--Storyline-- You are introduced into the series with a blast into the past (well, 1989). You get to see the Kent’s just before their life begins with Clark, Lana Lang as a cute innocent child before she grows up and lures men into her cleavage and Lex Luthor, wait for it…as a red head (You said WOTTTTTT?!?). You know its coming but it doesn’t stop the tension building and before you know it the sky is glowing full of cute fireballs. On a mission to destroy everything in its path. This rocks are of course actually meteors (but pretend to play stupid for me). A huge rock throws itself in front of the Kents truck and before you know it Clarke is popping out, all naked and innocent smiling at the world. He is soon taken in by the couple and adapts to farm life – with the extra advantage of his developing powers.
This interesting version of the superman story shows our dearest Clarke Kent suffering the worst part of life possible. That’s right, high school. You first encounter the Clarke you know to love at the delicate, pimple popping age of 17 (ok, so he really looks over 20, and his face is as smooth as a babies bum, but still). By now Lana Lang has ‘developed’ into a beautiful woman and Clark turns into a cluts around her maybe something to do with the glowing green rock around her neck?). His best friends are Pete Ross, best friend since the age of four and sports fanatic and Chloe Sullivan, hard hitting reporter of the school magazine who will do anything to try and uncover the strange evens happing in Smallville since the meteor shower.
The main effect the meteor shower has is nothing to do with Clarke but instead on the town and the towns’ people. Every episode someone has been affected in a different way which interacts with their current abilities (like boy obsessed with bugs becoming like a spider himself). Clarke and his friends find themselves constantly trying to fix these problems whilst also trying to uncover the true powers of the meteors.
What I like about this series is that it is about Clark developing, not only in his powers but also as a person and how he becomes the infamous superman. You see him going from only having super speed and strength to suddenly being able to peak at the girls though the wall to the changing rooms and getting ‘excited’ and setting the class on fire. The bit that I enjoyed the most however was the relationship developments. We are all fully aware that Lex is no angel, yet for now he and Clark are like brothers. Just as we know, eventually he has a thing for Louis Lane but we still root for him and Lana to get jiggy with it.
The Box/Episodes The front of the box sleeve is the size of an A5 piece of paper and the size measures at 2.5 cm. The photo is of the main character Clark Kent, with no top on *drool* and a large ‘S’ painted on his chest. You can then pull out the main box containing the discs. It opens in a similar manner to a book (of course with extremely thicker pages). The left side of the inside cover has a pocket containing a season break down of each episode including its name, short details of what happens, when it was aired in the US and UK (why?!?), the scenes you can pick from within each episode and a small photo. If you haven’t seen this series before DO NOT read though the book. You will encounter some serious spoilers so avoid! Then you have 6 plastic ‘pages’ each with an episode. Each episode has a photo of a man character and up to four episodes on it.

My opinion I am so glad I gave this a chance and now when I have the time I am watching the next episode (at time of print currently watching series 2 episode 17 and its getting gooooood). There are some serious faults within the series though which is annoying. For example, if someone is being affected by the meteors ever week – shouldn’t the town be missing half of its population by now?!? How does Clark manage to get out of bad situations ever blooming time and fgs, how stupid are his friends to not of realised who he really is if they are that close. But of course that’s part of the fun of it all. I would recommend it to anyone who is a superman fan as they will not be disappointed. However if your not don’t worry. If you like any super hero stuff, some amazing action scenes or just to perv over the teenage action *giggle* then this is for you. Happy flying

Advantages: feel-good show, family values etc Disadvantages: predictable, simple stories and wooden acting
Smallville started in 2001 and follows the story of a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling), his progression through and problems he encounters along the way. The pilot episode starts off by showing the meteor storm in which Clark arrived and the destruction caused by this, of which Clark later feels guilty about. The meteors not only cause devastation but they also spray kryptonite all over Smallville, making people acquire special powers in Smallville ... ...we discover a resident of smallville has been infected by meteor rock (kryptonite) enabling them to have special powers. They usually are in dire need for help and / or are using this power selfishly and for no good. It is up to Clark and his trusting friends (who are unaware of his powers) to help and stop the 'meteor freaks'. The overarching storyline usually consists of Clark's growth and realisation of his powers, starting in the pilot episode ...

Advantages: entertaining, addictive Disadvantages: bit samey in many regards
This first season of Smallville first appeared on US tv in 2001, and charts the life of young clark Kent/superman beginning with his life as a high school student. This is a very entertaining and addictive show, even though admittedly rather teenagerish and samey in plot lines. This season introduces Clark as he tries to learn to cope with his powers, and live as normal a life as possible, whilst always supported by his parents johnathan and Martha, ... ...matter of interest, Annette O'Toole played Lana in superman III starring Christopher Reeve. This season, is a good introduction to the show, and one of the main elements of the show follows Lana played by Kristen Kreuk and Clarks attempts to hide his feelings for her. They both seem to feel that they are meant to be with each other, but of course anyone remotely familiar with the superman story, knows that this is not the case. Lex Luther (Michael ...

Smallville tells the story of future Superman, Clark Kent in his teenage years.
On Smallville you'll see Clark Kent's super abilities appear. Starting with Super Speed to X Ray vision then to Defying gravity.
The shows creaters used the line "No tights, No flights" to advertise the show.
Which basically means that Clark Kent won't be wearing and Superman Costumes anytime soon and that he won't be flying.

Tom Welling (Clark Kent in Smallville) acted well as Superman in this series.Aside from his great abs and handsome face, Welling live to the expectation to match the legendary acting of Christopher Reeve as Superman. The story began and highlighted the hometown of the famous Clark Kent and presented CK as a farm boy, as a son, as a friend ...

DVD Description
The Superman myth has always been magical and heroic, but little has been written about Clark Kent's small-town life as a teenager growing up in Smallville. While he comes to terms with being a high-flying superhero he still has adolescence to contend with and never before has Superman been so cool and hip. Featuring newcomers Tom Welling (in the title role) and Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luther and seasoned actors such as the DUKES OF HAZZARD's John Schneider and Annette O'Toole (SUPERMAN 3) this state-of-the-art special effects packed series satisfies our small screen appetite for comic book heroes. This muscular set contains all 21 episodes from the first season including the pilot episode directed by David Nutter (THE WEST WING, BAND OF BROTHERS).
