Bob Lee Swagger (played by Mark Wahlberg) is an ex-Special Ops sharpshooter who has been retired since finishing a tour of duty in Ethiopia. The film starts showing Swagger in action, his snipper partner is killed and Swagger is left behind (the USA have turned their backs on their troops).
