Advantages: Helps babies and children with early communication skills. Disadvantages: Not too widely known about.
..."Time to sing and time to sign, are you ready for music time? We feel happy and we feel fine, everyone sing and sign!"
... So begins this fantastic DVD to help hearing babies with very early communication skills. It's great fun and is not like any other action songs DVD.
What is Sing and Sign?
The 'Sing and Sign' concept was invented by a lady called Sasha Felix, in Brighton, in 2001. She uses traditional nursery rhymes and her own creations, along with hand signs based on British Sign Language and is compatible with Makaton and Signalong. The idea behind sing and sign is that babies want to communicate right from birth and are born to be sociable. Sing and sign is a fun way to help both parents and babies understand each other better. There are clear hand signs to accompany the words...

Advantages: Stunning performances, great sound, good camera work, timeless songs. Disadvantages: Inevitably some songs didn't make the set. Especially missed Tales of Great Ulyses and I Feel Free
...!
Jack Bruce is also on fabulous form with his vocals, harmonica and bass playing. Ginger Baker plays like only he can. A drummer friend of mine rates this as one of the best drumming performances he's ever seen.
The DVD is a compilation of the best takes from 4 nights at The Albert Hall, London, recorded 2-6 May 2005 and moves along pretty seamlessly with the feel of one show.
Most of what you expect to hear is on the DVD (with the noteable exceptions for me being I Feel Free and Tales of Brave Ulyses) - so you have Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Badge, Spponful, Born Under a Bad Sign and more. And a fantastic inclusion of Ginger Baker singing Pressed Rat and Warthog.
Anyone that likes Cream on record (or is that CD and MP3 nowadays) will love this double DVD. It is a reminder of what 3 musicians at the height of their collective...

Advantages: An amazing concert, great talent Disadvantages: Some disappointments
...and the hour flew by, and the DVD came to an end leaving me wanting more, which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend it, but that isn’t to say it is perfect, so what are the disadvantages?
For starters, it is in black and white, which may put some people off. The quality sometimes dips a bit too, but to be honest, that added to the effect for me and made me feel more a part of it. It felt like watching a piece of history and I loved it for that.
A couple of disappointments were found in the songs though. Whereas the track listing on the back has twenty-four songs on it, not all of them are sung in their entirety. In one section, Judy and Liza sing a compilation which features bits from several songs and later on in the concert, they sing together – Judy performing Get Happy, while Liza sings Happy Days Are Here Again. It does work...

...Ok, now i'm not a fan of karaoke as of from when i was 18 and my friends signed me up to sing Cyndi Lauper 'girls just wanna have fun'. I have had nightmares ever since. This is why when my friend bought out the karaoke machine one drunken night at uni, i panicked. However a few hours later and we were all fighting for the microphone.
Featuring songs from Bridget Jones this karaoke is hilarious and even better because most people will know the songs already. Some of the songs featured are out of reach by Gabrielle (an old favourite of mine) and all by myself (possibly the saddest song in history).
If you loved the film then get this DVD and it will not disappoint. Every song reminds you of how brilliant the film is. Just pop it in your DVD player and away you go, its even better if you plug in a microphone to!
I highly...

Advantages: teaches you to sign with your children Disadvantages: none
...HOWEVER the programme is specifically designed to be inclusive and it allows children of all abilities to join in and have lots of fun.
There are two main characters that appear in the Something Special programmes, Justin and Mr Tumble which is also played by Justin. Justin also appears in the children's TV programme Tikkabilla and has recently become one of the new CBeebies presenters. He comes across as a very friendly uncle who has a very happy manner without being sickly sweet! My Tumble is a clown (as seen on the cover of the DVD) who is very clumsy and always needs help from a sensible child but you never get to see the child, only hear the voice.
Each episode is very structured and lasts about 14 minutes. It starts with a Hello song which he signs. You are introduced to the theme very early on and Justin comes across objects...
