Even though the price is quite high here in the UK, you have to admit that the list of features above is pretty long.
** PRICE ** Ok, back to the shopping, I had seen The Simpsons Complete Season 1 DVD available for the following prices at the following stores:
WHSmiths £29.99 Woolworths £35.99 Game £39.99 HMV £39.99
And, as you can imagine, one week later, all but HMV had sold out. I was told however that WHSmiths would have some more in stock on Moday. So, I could either wait and risk going out of stock again, or buy from HMV, one of the most expensive places. I decided to buy(I really wanted to see it)
** Actors Featuring the voices of ** - Julie Kavner - Albert Brooks - Kelsey Grammer - Dan Castellaneta - Nancy Cartwright - Yeardley Smith - Hank Azaria - Harry Shearer - Phil Hartman - Pamela Hayden - Marcia Wallace - Tress MacNeille
** Other details ** Certificate: PG Year: 1989 Screen: Fullscreen 4:3 Languages: English - Dolby Digital (5.1) Subtitles: Spanish
** My thought ** I think that even though this box set is very expensive, compared to the US, it is still worth the money, expecially since buying the whole first season on Video format would surely cost a lot more. Plus, the video format would not have as many special features, and you have the hassle of having to rewind them after use, which is not needed with DVD's.
Advantages: great show, good presentation, good commentaries Disadvantages: R2 is overpriced, Extras are very short,
Since the advent of dvd users have been calling for the release of certain title over everything else. Little by little they are coming with next weeks release of The Godfather films, the first entry for a star wars film and of course now we see the release of The Simpsons Season 1 on dvd but is it worth the wait. Well here's my view on the three-disc set. The release comes in silver grey gatefold style packaging with some nice artwork. This slips ... ...almost rainbow effect on it. Overall a nice start with the addition of a small booklet listing the episodes, some trivia and air dates. Spanning three dvd's we get the whole 13 episodes of season one that breakdown as follows: - Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire ----------------------------------- Homer doesn't get his Christmas bonus and has to moonlight as a Santa as the department store. Meanwhile the festive cheer is all around the Simpson’s ...

Advantages: The product itself is great: a succint collection of complete series one with everything in one package. Funny. Good commentary Disadvantages: As a program, series one is far worse than later series of Simpsons.
This box set is great for Simpsons fans-it contains all the episodes of Season 1, with commentary on all episodes, with relevant production notes and promotional footage, in one set. The box is well decorated in simpsons designs, with lots of information-not just a Simpsons disc (or 3 of them, even) but a whole SImpsons package!
The show itself however is not magnificent. Yes, if you are a fan of the Simpsons like myself, you will want it as it ... ...jokes that started the early 90's Bartmania craze. A notable differewnce is the realsim of the show and the way real issues and family problems are confronted, featuring many examples of family relations and emotions. However, if you are a comedy lover in general, it probably would be better, given the choice, to buy a later Season Box Set first. By all means have this in your collection, but it is not as good as later series.
The menus are easy ...

My mum and dad bought me this simpsons dvd last weekend and i've been watching it all week. Every episode is so funny it makes us all laugh until it hurts! Homer is the dad, he works at the nuclear power plant. He loves do-nuts and is very stupid! Marge is the mum, she has to put up with a lot from homer and the kids. Bart is the oldest child - he is very naughty and does not do as he is told at school. He likes to skateboard and has lots of sayings, ...

Advantages: Homer and the jokes Disadvantages: Over exposure these days
On one of the direst and saddest days in America's history, let's not forget that there are lots of things to celebrate and none more so than our favourite yellow heroes....
What is the secret of Homer's success?
Fat slobs don't die, they follow the adventures of Homer Simpson, the cult hero of the American cartoon series, The Simpsons. It gives them someone to look down on and make them feel just that little bit better about themselves.
But there's a bit of Homer in all of us. Despite being a fat, bald, selfish, lazy, impetuous, materialistic, ignorant, drunken, greedy, gambling, cowardly and self-centred daydreamer, Homer is a loveable loser and has emerged as the central character, an idol for forty somethings everywhere and honoured by being emblazoned across merchandising the world over, including things such as boxer ...
Advantages: Good value, excellent series, very funny, long shelf life Disadvantages: There are many seasons this could cost ALOT, the DVD is released on Monday 24th of September and it looks great
When the simpsons first came out on Uk television (sky, admittedly) videos were released with 2 episodes on in consecutive order. They weren’t great sellers and they stopped being produced. Now thanks to massively increasing popularity much owed to BBC2’s constant screening of the programme the people at 20th Century Fox have seen fit to release a box set containing the whole of season 1.
The box set incorporates the first season which includes 13 episodes. I have provided a synopsis for each one below
*The cast*
The Simpsons are:
Homer
The father of the group, Homer has a job at the local nuclear power plant in Springfield run by Mr Burns. He has lacklustre respect for his workplace and even less respect for responsibilities. How much would you give to just not give a damn like only Homer can!!!
Marge ...
Advantages: A good way of collecting the set. Disadvantages: Not enough extra's.
Everyone knows who these guys are, no introductions are required, no explanation as to why they are yellow or what does “Doh!” mean?
The Simpsons collection should by rights have surfaced about 5 years ago. Surely it reached its popularity peak during the earlier episodes? No friends, it keeps on growing. I know people who used to turn over the TV at the mere mention of an episode of this show, but now have learned like all the rest of us who are right, that this is the best thing on the box and it shows no sign of relinquishing its crown!
I have been saying to my mates for months now that there should be a Simpsons channel, 24 hours a day, nothing but our favourite yellow family and their friends and colleagues in Springfield. I don’t think this is too much to ask do you?
With over 250 episodes in the bag ...
