I'm in my very late 20's, I'm a Stay At Home Mum, I enjoy earning a very small crust on eBay (very small Mr Inland Revenue!). I am really getting into the reviews writing - its fun - nice to be able to share my thoughts and hopefully be appreciated.

This film has a really twisty plot - naturally as its Shyamalan, what do you expect?
I think the film triumphs in its realism. You get the feeling that it could be happening right outside your front-door one day in the future.
The performances are fantastic, by both the adult and child actors. Mel Gibson is impressive in his turn as a disillusioned priest, having lost sight of his faith after the tragic death of his wife. Joaquin Phoenix is a great little brother to Gibson's priest, who is losing respect for him as Gibson throws off any idea of their being a loving God as the film progresses. Rory Culkin does well as the asthma afflicted son. Abigail Breslin is cute as Bo, with her strange habits with glasses of water and her deadpan 'Daddy, there's a monster outside my window...'
The film builds into a picture of world domination with 'scouting trips' by the visitors featuring locally and across the world (Brazilian kid's birthday party video - bl***y scary!!). The climax is fantastic as it uses different plot elements in such a way that you would never expect it.
The lack of a soundtrack adds to the realism.
Is M Night Shyamalan the new Hitchcock - he'd like it that way!
PS definitely not a 12 certificate, more a 15 PPS Have now added first names of actors for all the dunderheads out there, or those who never heard of the Internet Movie Database (probably a better place to look for info on films than Ciao - sorry - oops)

Sorry for the low rating but I would have liked more information as to the cast, the characters, plot, pace, and more info on the director - don't assume that everyone knows who you're talking about. Hope this helps. If you edit let me know and I would be happy to re-read. Ellie.

Advantages: Makes you think...and keep on thinking for ages afterwards, it has Mr Gibson in it, superb directing Disadvantages: A bit scary to be rated 12 - and all that thinking made my brain hurt
