"ShutUp and Sing" follows the band from this point; showing how they coped with the backlash and went through the writing and recording process for the next album. We get to see the three of them as singers, performers, mothers and wives; a rare thing in today's media obsessed world where everyone is trying to present their best side. There doesn't appear to be any attempt to portray the Dixie Chicks as victims of oppression, or has heroes of freedom of speech. They are just a closely knit group, reacting to the situation as it stands, with an openness and frankness that made me believe that nothing would have been any different had the camera not been there.
