As many of my other reviews show, my fiancee and I are hugh fans of animated films with the first two Shrek films are
close to the top of my favourites list.
The 3rd file (Shrek The Third) keeps up the tradition being a truely funny film, suitable for all ages with superb
animation a good plot and as usual a great voice cast and soundtrack.
The film starts with the death of the frog king of Far Far Away (Skrek's Father in Law) leaving Shrek (Mike Myers) as the
natural successor to the throne, a frightening though for anyone but even more so for an Ogre (even one as loveable as
Arthur becomes Shreks lifeline so he decides to go and get him and enbarks on the voyage along with his faithful friends
Donkey (the hillarious Eddie Murphy) and the smooth Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) but just as they set sail Fiona
(Cameron Diaz) breaks the news that she is Pregnant.
While Shrek and crew are hunting down Arthur (a new character to the films voiced by Justin Timberlake) who turns out to
be Arthur of Camelot fame and is at colleage (which provides a who array of hugely funny situtaion) the often jilted
Prince Charming (Rupert Everette) decides to round up all of the other bad guys from an array of Children stories to take over Far Far Away, capture Fiona, trap Shrek, do away with them both and then take become King himself.
Needless to say the sub plots weave together, Shrek struggling to get Arthur and his friends back to far far away whilst fretting about becoming Dad, Fiona revelling in her pregnancy and then having to fight Prince Charming, and then it all coming together, all with almost non-stop laugh raising stiuations and one liners, and a great soundtrack including the Frog Song and the Cats in the Craddle.
I give any more details to avoid spoiling the film as everyone should take 90 minutes out to watch this. There DVD comes with a few extras including short interviews with the voice cast and details of some cut out scenes, these shows memeber of the production team walking through rough hand drawn scenes so they get the feel of what happens in the scene and provided a very interesting insight into the process used to create a film such as Shrek the Third

Advantages: Puss in Boots steals the show, some flashes of good humor Disadvantages: Short film length, mediocre for most parts of the film, poor ending
