1st off...just a few points 1.I don't write MASSIVE reviews, who wants to be sat here reading half an hour? 2. Don't tell me to check punctuation, spelling, capitals etc. This isn't an english test! 3. Don't tell me my reviews are short and I 'won't get good ratings', im not bothered about ratings, I'm just here to tell you what I think!!!
OK lets get started, the first film featured is 'Short Circuit' directed by John Badham, the main plot is about a lab where experimental robots are held, they are all programmed to 'seek and destroy' however one escapes NUMBER 5! He his hit by a freak bolt of lightning and suddenly life is zapped into him, 'Jhonny 5 is ALIVE!' He becomes incredibly intelligent and has to fight for his own life when he has to convince his creator Newton Crosby (Steve Guttenburg) that he really is 'alive' or else be re-programmed! He is taken in (adopted) by Stephanie Speck (Ally Sheedy ) who has a house full of stray and adopted animals, and she quickly gets roped into all the chaos of trying to save this innocent little robot. Crosby's east indian sidekick Ben Jabituya (Fisher Stevens) is so goofy and funny that you could just about use him as the main character! It was made in 1986 (a year before i was born!) and I still find it funny, It's not 2006 funny but different people enjoy different things! I'd say it's a film for the family as people of all ages would love this...its hard not to fall in love with Jhonny 5 with his wacky sense of humor and naivity. With Tim Blaney doing the voice of Number 5, he makes this character so lovable with an ET-ish voice! Expect dancing, singing, shooting, and defiantly lots of laughs!! Definatly worth watching....
Rating: PG Run time: 98 minutes (wish it was longer!!) Features: Scene selection, Interview with Syd Mead (robot designer), and Interview with Eric Allard (robot special effects supervisor)
The second film featured is 'Flight of the Navigator' which is just as equally worth watching! Another family film this time directed by Randal Kleiser, suprisngly it's actually a Disney film, but don't be put off....this ones got an original plot! 12 Year old David (Joey Cramer) fell in the woods whilst looking for his little brother , he was knocked unconcious and what seemed to be only minutes he awoke to find that he'd lost 8 years of his life. The town had changed, and everyone had reported him missing, but after 8 years was pressumed dead. Now David's little brother had become his big brother, you see David hasn't aged one little bit!! NASA officials find a spacecraft and now are holding David in a room to question him about it. His only escape is the spacecraft...controlled by Max the crazy robot. This is where the movie really starts to pick up. Max (voiced by Paul Reubens best known as Pee Wee Herman!) is just as equally funny as 'Jhonny 5' and the one-liners and constant laughs will keep everyone entertained. This is where David becomes 'The Navigator' he gets to fly the ship and there's plenty of laughs instore as they explore the world in their crazy adventure. I have to admit that my favourite part are the small creatures kept in jars that Max has picked up from different planets, They are the cutest little things ever! Watch out for Sarah Jessicca Parker in one of her first film appearances! I don't want to spoil the movie for you...so I won't tell you the outcome :) but this DVD has got the best 2 movies put together for the cheap price of £7.99!!! This was also made in 1986, but includes some great music and brilliant special effects to say its 20 years old!
Rating: PG Run Time: 82 Minutes Special Features: Just Scene selection I'm afraid!
If you like films such as: Batteries not included, ET, and Mac and Me, You'll Just love these two films!
Plot: In 'Short Circuit' No. 5, a robot, when hit by lightning, wanders away from the top secret compound at Nova Robotics. An attractive caterer discovers him and, convinced he is alive, helps protect him from the commandos who are sent to track him down. 'Flight Of the Navigator' tells the story of a 12 year-old boy who is mysteriously abducted by an alien space craft and returns to Earth eight years later, still only 12. He now has great navigational powers, which enable him to fly his spaceship anywhere he desires.

DVD Description
Two of 1986's most popular family movies. SHORT CIRCUIT: When a laser-armed Department of Defence robot named Number 5 gets zapped by a lightning bolt, he "malfunctions" and starts spouting peace slogans and developing a human-like consciousness. Naturally, the newly pacifist machine wants out of the military and escapes. As a frantic search for the creature begins, Number 5 settles down in his new home, with a gentle young woman named Stephanie (Ally Sheedy), who has every intention of holding on to her find, teaching Number 5 about popular culture and other mysteries of life. Thoroughly convinced that the robot is alive, she develops a strong bond with the creature. In order to prevent his capture by the military--who view Number 5 as an armed-and-dangerous weapon--the pair must convince his inventor, a reclusive scientist named Newton Crosby (Steve Guttenberg), that he is truly alive and more than just a metal machine. The highly innovative robot created for director John Badham's film brings to mind other loveable science fiction icons such as E.T. and R2D2 from STAR WARS. FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR: A 12-year-old boy is mysteriously abducted by an alien ship and returns to Earth eight years later, still only 12. He now possesses great navigational powers that enable him to fly his space ship anywhere he desires. Along with the robotic Commander Max and Mascot Puckmarin, the boy encounters an adventure of extraterrestrial proportions.
