Advantages: Really funny, feel-good film Disadvantages: None that i can think of..!
I recently purchased this DVD after one of my friend's made me watch her copy, because I loved it so much!
The plot is based on Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night, but is a more modern version with slight changes, obviously! The main character Viola (Amanda Bynes) is desperate to prove she is a good football player after being told she cannot join her school team because she is female. She plots to disguise herself as her twin brother Sebastian and take his place at his new school (whilst he is away with his band) to prove her football skills. She manages to convince everyone she is male (albeit a slightly odd one) - even popular girl Olivia gets a crush on her/him. Viola, however, has fallen for her roommate Duke (Channing Tatum :P ), who has been helping her with her football, but she cannot reveal this due to her disguise. All in all ...
Advantages: gorgeous, addresses important issues Disadvantages: the message can feel a bit obvious, middle is slow
at times, but it was difficult to tell because I don't speak German, so I had to rely on the subtitles.
However, Nowhere in Africa is also very complex and much more accessible than other films of epic proportion. Whereas other movies have one crucial scene that everyone talks about, one could discuss the nuances of Nowhere in Africa for hours.
One scene that I thought was particularly well done was when Regina is older and leaves the house in the middle of the night. The age progression of Regina's character is so flawless that I wasn't sure whether or not two actresses portray her at different stages. I thought they might have halted production for a few years so that Lea Kurka could grow up, but, indeed, she is replaced by an older actress, Karoline Eckertz, later in the film. Both Reginas are excellent. When Jettel hears the door ...
Advantages: Funny, Enjoyable Disadvantages: Not the most amazing acting
recently watched she's the man for the hundredth time and therefore thought it was about time I reviewed it. She's the man is a chick flick comedy film aimed at a relatively young audience. It was originally out in 2006 in the cinema and then the same year out on DVD. I went to see it at the cinema and bought the DVD as soon as it was out.
The main storyline of She's The Man is based on the Shakespeare play Twelfth Night, which is what quite a few teenage chick flicks seem to have done. This has been done well though and even many of the characters have the same names as those in the play. I think it really demonstrates how versatile Shakespeare's stories are and how they can be adapted to suit a modern day narrative. Anyway the story is based around the main character Viola who is a football mad girl. When her team is cut at school ...
The story of a sadistic sex kitten who mixes blood and sex in a series of set pieces in which she castrates her male victims. German dialogue with subtitles.

DVD Description
Jess Franco, one of the most celebrated sleaze directors of the 1960s and 70s, followed up his classic VAMPYROS LESBOS with this film, which, like LESBOS, stars the incomparable Soledad Miranda. Here, the fetching Ms. Miranda stars as the wife of a doctor who is condemned by his colleagues for the experiments he has been performing on human embryos. Driven to the brink of madness by this slight from his peers, the good doctor commits suicide, believing that his career has been ruined. Crestfallen by the death of her beloved, Ms. Miranda seeks revenge on the four people who she believes were responsible for his death. Using her considerable feminine wiles to seduce each of the offending parties, Ms. Miranda systematically sets out to kill each one who takes the irresistible bait.
