In regard to the special effects, the movies themselves were filmed in the early 90s, however the extras and props are all excellent, I believe all were sets were on location and in Sharpe's Waterloo there is a 'bloody big battle', possibly tipped with Sharpe's finest moment where he gets to see Napoleon.
Overall, brilliant! I cannot wait to watch the final DVD.
If you want a sample, why not ...
Advantages: Fast paced read that never gets too bogged down in historical fact Disadvantages: Perhaps too much violence for some (but not for me)
himself beset on all sides, there are the French to do battle with, but far more dangerous are the other British officers, with their pompous idiocy and ingrained prejudices. When the virgin regiment (that's never experienced battle) he's attached to loses it's colours and honour, Sharpe finds himself battling to not only restore that honour but also his very career?..
Now before I go any further, let me point out that up until I read Sharpe's Rifles I wouldn't have given this book a second glance, I thought that historical novels were SO not my thing. But as with Rifles I didn't feel as if I was reading a "text book' and the characters were well drawn with a life of their own. Sharpe was as blunt, honest and naive as I was expecting and his relationships with those surrounding him as natural as they could possibly be. His reactions to ...
Advantages: Joyous read for a footy biog Disadvantages: More juice please
Alex Ferguson may have been the bricks and mortar of the Manchester United success story, and Mark Robbins the trigger; but it was all smiling Lee Sharpe who was the La chispa` (the spark of magic) that ignited the new dynasty with passion, intensity and sex appeal .Football was going that way, anyway, in the early nineties with the inception of the Premiership, and Sharpey was determined to be leading that revolution witha smile, United now the proud owners of title number nine in the last 14 seasons for Sir Alex.
Lee was one of the last guys to play the game with a smile on his face (much to Ferguson?s ire) and the wonderful photo on the books dust cover of Sharpey using the flag stick as a microphone stand reminds us of a day long past in the top levels of professional sport. He may have liked the ladies more than the training but ...

DVD Description
This collection includes two Sharpe tales: SHARPE'S HONOUR and SHARPE'S GOLD. In SHARPE'S HONOUR, when Major Sharpe (Sean Bean) becomes a pawn at the hands of Major Pierre Ducos (Feodor Atkine), a French spy, he must cross enemy lines to find the one person who can clear his name. Meanwhile, the irresistible Marquesa Dorada (Alice Krige), also a pawn of Major Ducos's plot, wins Sharpe's heart, placing him in deeper danger. SHARPE'S GOLD finds Sharpe once again in mortal danger deep behind enemy lines. While searching for a stash of hidden Aztec gold, the dashing soldier gets tangled up with some ruthless gun traders, a fierce partisan leader, and a beautiful young Irish girl (Jayne Ashbourne).
