Is he made of Honour?
That is the question we are asked in the 2008 movie, Made of Honour. As you can probably guess by the title, it's a wedding themed movie and also a play on words as the real spelling should be maid of honour, but this story is somewhat different.
Tom and Hannah have been friends, best friends for 10 years, even since they met at Cornell University in New York. Tom accidently jumps into her bed but, even though he is a bit of a heart throb at uni she is having none of his charms and fatly refuses him. He respects this because I think every other women he has met just falls for his charms but has no substance about her. Tom has a bit of a reputation as a ladies man but with Hannah it's different. They have a real connection, they have regular standing coffee and cake dates and can actually talk about feelings etc ...

I was given this DVD as a gift several months ago and before that had never even heard of it. I have been very busy over most of the holidays being away quite so have not had time to watch it until today and at first all I'm going to say is that it is a superb film with a great story and great acting.
Initial Expectations:
Having not seen nor heard of this film before I wasn't too sure what it was about, but having been pestered for quite a while from the guy who gave me the DVD and waiting I while before I watched it I had loads of time in which my imagination began to guess what this film was going to be about. I thought it was to do with something about war (which was assumed from the title and front cover) and that being a 15 it would probably involve fighting and stuff like that.

Tom, in his own words, has it all. He is a serial philanderer who has a set of rules which rule his love life - he never has a date with the same woman two nights in a row and never has more than two dates with the same woman in a week. His emotional needs are met through his relationship with Hannah who he has known since his college days. Hannah is sent to Scotland for six weeks for work and while she is away Tom realises that after all these years it is Hannah he wants to be with. Unfortunately for him, while in Scotland Hannah meets and falls madly in love with Colin, a Scottish Duke. She comes back to New York engaged with the wedding set for two weeks' time. Hannah asks Tom to be her maid of honour and he sets out to convince her that she should leave Colin and be with him instead. I won't spoil the ending for anyone but ...
