...Despite this, her relationship with Shakespeare continues - and inspires him to write the play Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare struggles to cast the roles of the play and finds himself working with a group of hapless actors. However, as his love life blossoms, his play begins to flourish.
However, Lady Viola is disguised as a boy and plays the role of Romeo, and is exposed as a girl. This threatens to destory the play, as they now have no Romeo and ... ...dressed as a woman and Shakespeare plays Romeo and they act out their love on stage infront of Elizabeth herself.
The play receives a fantastic reception and Queen Elizabeth herself is also impressed. However as soon as the play finishes Viola has to leave England to start her life with her wealthy husband and this leads to an emotional farewell between her and Shakespeare.
As well as being very emotional and moving, this film is also really funny. ...

...This was a very enjoyable film, which I went to see with a group of friends. Having not really read anything up on the film beforehand, it was nice to see some familiar faces in the film that were not expected.
Although essentially a love story, the film managed to be humerous and made us laugh. It was also interesting as being a double love story with Romeo and Juliet and also Shakespeare and Gweneth Paltrow, can't remember her name in the film. All in all I would recommend this film as being a one to see. Go and see it now....

Advantages: there are bits of loads of shakepeares songs in it :) Disadvantages: it's a bit hard to get into in the beginning
...shakespeare in love is a very well put together film! it's based around romeo and juilet, u get to see the way romeo and juilet was thought of (fictional of course) during the film little bits of many of shakespeares plays were cleverly included in the film in such away that it was hard to spot them, this is the sort of film that by the title u wont think u would like (young people especially) but once u get into it, it is a really good film, even though u know what is going to happen in the end it still manages to be a surprise, i really enjoyed this film and would recomend it to everyone!...

Advantages: Great story, great performances Disadvantages: none!
...This is a brilliant film with all the right components for a perfect romantic comedy with a bit of Shakespeare thrown in for good measure! The story is set around the writing of the Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet. It uses genuinely laugh out loud moments and also moments that will bring a tear to your eye to tell the story of how young Will meets Viola and makes her his muse for the famous play. The cast is filled with stars and the sets, costumes and music are outstanding. You don't have to be a lover of Shakespeare to enjoy this film, in fact it may very well turn you in to one.
This film is a gem and deserves all the praise it gets....
