From the reviews ive herd and after watching this film my self this is defiantly a “you love it or hate it” film!, for me I thought it was one of the crudest and funniest films ive seen in ages!
The plot is simply – the tell tale stories of the sex lives of four potato men from Birmingham. With a cast of Johnny Vegas (Blackball) , Mackenzie Crook ( The office) Mark Gatiss (the league of gentlemen) right from the start it sounded good, and for me it was. From feed back off friends end work mates, it seems that this film is very much a lad’s film. In fact im not sure ive herd a lass actually say its good! Right from the off I could not stop laughing - Johnny Vegas rodding the learner driver.. Hehe.
There are four on going stories of each of the potato men.
Tolly (Dominic Coleman) - his girlfriend left him and he has become addicted to fish paste and jam sandwiches – although the cannot quite get the taste right, the places a telephone add to try and get a new girlfriend which will pamper to all his sickly thoughts and fetishes.
Ferris (Mackenzie Crook) – well were to start?….. After constantly been sexually abused (probably the best way to say it) he decides to leave his rent free accommodation and live in the local chipy where he has funny goings on with the lady who works there, Incidentally the lady’s husband is sexually warped and crazes sexual fanaticise, namely.. in the cupboard, been tied up in the basement “any one of salt and vinegar” and in the boot of the car., watch out for the gherkin man and the little old lady!
Dave (Johnny Vegas) - after been branded a lazy pig his wife packs his bags for him…. Dave then goes looking for anything he can get basically, and he does in the shape of a threesome and later on a full house load of people. The scenes in this are so funny I was nearly crying … “ so where did you park”?… “ im number 11, typical”, “hurry up there’s a queue back here”, after his outings he finally realises that he liked been with his wife and they end up back together . ( the crazy paving make s you laugh too)
Jeremy (Mark Gatiss) - after been obsessed with a girl for ages and lying about his perfection he keeps stalking her telling the rest of the potato men that they still go out together. Whilst spying on his ex and her new boyfriend he steals there dog and takes it home. He than meets a lady in the park and ends up getting engaged to her! ( her story about spraying Dog s**t all over the house is hilarious too).
Overall I would recommend this DVD to anyone who does not get offended easily, it is very crude ( no actual sex scenes are shown i.e no private parts are seen) but it is full of references and clips for the viewers perception ! Hehe, I can see many people hating this film and also many people liking it, that’s probably why its one of the most controversial films! Especially as it was lottery funded!
Anyway that’s my opinion, watch it and see for your self.
Michael
