As someone who never saw SATC on the TV - oh the shame - when I got divorced this year I decided to make it my mission to buy up all of the box sets and get some new girlfriends in my life! This series tops the lot because you get to see where the girls end up - and as you've followed them through thick and thin (and thats just the men!), you really get that emotional glow when things work out for the girls! (keep the tissues handy!)
Series 6 is where Charlotte gets her dream, Miranda shows what we all suspected all along - that she's a complete sweetheart, Samantha finally opens up to the right guy and Carrie gets her Mr Big!
Particular highlights ahoy! I think are the scenes with Miranda and Steve - you're willing everything to work out well and the episode with their wedding really had me weeping over my chocolate!
Smith is also a highlight - the way he refuses to take Samanthas rubbish! And it is sweet how you know she loves him the whole time but how much she is struggling to admit it!
I loved the episode with Berger - "he's just not that into you!" It was such a lightbulb moment for me as well as Miranda.
I also love Charlotte and Harry together - how he accepts Charlottes "madness" and loves her for it! Its great casting and very natural acting.
And Carrie! Carrie is my favourite! The girl I want to be! I was a little diappointed in her and her relationship in this series with "The Russian". I could see why she fell for the hype and romance but she gave up so much of herself for him! I was whooping and cheering when Big came to get her! Such an attractive man!
Not sure what else to say! Series 6 does what it says on the box and ties up the lives of these girls who have slowly become like your "other" group of best friends - you look forward to catching up with their lives just as much as you would do with your real mates! I didn't feel that it had lost any of the wittyness of previous series, which I guess can happen with long running shows. All of the little anecdotes about bits I liked above are there because, in general, I think its an excellent end to an excellent series and great value for money! The fashion rocks, the sets are fabulous and the script writing as sharp as ever!
I'm always a little disappointed with SATC box sets that there's no extras! But c'est la vie! Also there are a lot of disks in this one with only 4 episodes per disk! It shouldn't stop someone buying it but it is a bit of a pain and I wonder why they did it that way!
Apart from that, the only thing wrong with series 6 is that its over too soon! Enjoy and indulge!
