Series 5, Two Disc's, Eight Episodes

Series 5 is disappointingly short in comparison to the other series; I was able to watch the whole series in an afternoon.
Miranda now has baby Brady to look after and she is finding it hard to adjust to life as a mother, this must be so hard for her being the only one of her friends to be a mother, she is also used to being career minded and working long hours.
Charlotte is looking for her Mr Right after things fell apart with Trey, she decides to get a divorce and it is through this divorce that she meets her next love Harry Golden blatt. Charlotte soon realises that beauty is not just skin deep as Harry is not her usual type at all, he is uncouth, sweats and has more hair on his back than on his head but Charlotte still manages to fall in love with him.
Samantha is still up set about Richard and thinking with her heart and not her head she gets back together with him for the second time. Once a cheater always a cheater is the phrase and it is almost always true as Richard proves. Samantha is soon back to her old ways much to the shock of Carrie.
Carrie's career is taking of as she is offered a book deal, she is getting great exposure and is becoming even more of a celebrity. While her career is reaching high heights, her love life is going down hill, desperate for the feel of a man on top of her she meets up with Mr Big in San Francisco. Towards the end of the series we meet Jack Berger also a writer he gives Carrie the Za, Za, Zu, but he has a girlfriend and we are left wondering if they will get together. In my opinion he is not a patch on Mr Big or the lovely Aiden.
I am also pleased that Anthony and Stanford are also popping up in several of the episodes they are fabulous characters and it is great to see them being used to their full potential.

Disc One

Episode One: Anchors Away!

In this episode Carrie talks about the City of New York as her date, she says 'If you only have one great love then New York City is mine', this illustrates how important the City is to her and who she is. And this week is 'fleet week' when Us Navel ships dock and the sailors come to New York City! I wish I lived in New York how much fun I could have!
Charlotte lets her inhibitions go for a sailor and Samantha gets revenge on Richard. Meanwhile Miranda is at home missing out tending to Brady.

Episode Two: Unoriginal Sin

Samantha gets back together with Richard; he explains that he got scared, now if I got bought a Canary Diamond ring I might get back with a Ex as well. Charlotte is trying to find love and attends a seminary to help her. Steve and Miranda get Brady baptized and Carrie is Godmother.
Carrie gets a book deal and dedicates her book 'to hopeful single women everywhere & one in particular, my good friend Charlotte the eternal optimist who always believes in love'.
What a lovely dedication, I am so much like Charlotte desperately seeking a man and looking for love.

Episode Three: Luck be an Old Lady

It's Charlotte's birthday and Carrie is desperate to get the girls together, they end up going to Atlantic City (Curtsey of Richard). Charlotte is worried about ending up an Old Maid, Samantha is paranoid that Richard is cheating, Miranda is worried about her baby bulge and Carrie just wants them to get a photo together. It is not the holiday they ha in mind but they all end up smiling in he end.
This is a good episode about friendship and the worries of getting old.

Episode Four: Cover Girl

Carrie's book needs a cover so Samantha says she will do her PR for her, however it seems they have a difference in opinion of what is sexy and sheik. Carrie also gets a shock when she finds Samantha in a compromising position then Samantha has a shock when she finds Stanford in a compromising position.
Miranda joins weight watchers and picks up a new guy 'Mr Big Boned' this sparks Carrie's brilliant line of 'Miranda went out with an over eater and he over ate her'

Disc Two

Episode Five: Plus One is the Loneliest Number

Carrie is having a book launch party but she has no date, she thinks things are looking up when her publisher introduces her to another of their writers Jack Berger. Jack is a nothing like Aiden or Big he is sort of in between, a little rugged with his stubble struggling writer appearance, but he is also witty and clever a great combination for Carrie.
Samantha gets a face peel (literally) for the party, Miranda is trying to get lucky but keeps forgetting she has a baby now and Charlotte has a shock when Bunnie (Trey's mother) lets herself into her apartment and says that it is not hers.

Episode Six: Critical Condition

Miranda is finding it very hard to cope being a mother and it is not helped when her neighbours start complaining, she needs some time out and luckily wit some persuasion Samantha is able to lend a hand.
Carrie is upset about her book review that says 'men are disposable' she is even more upset when she meets a Girl called Nina Katz who keeps giving her 'the face' turns out she dated Aiden right after Carrie, 'He lost his ability to open up and trust women' says Steve when Carrie asks him how Aiden was after they broke up. Ouch that has got to hurt.
Charlotte gets a divorce from Trey and gets to keep her apartment.
Look out for a guest appearance from Heather Graham in this episode.

Episode Seven: The Big Journey

Carrie is going to San Francisco for a book tour and to have sex with Mr Big, however when she arrives Big has a different tune, it seems he had read her book and didn't realise how much he had hurt her in the past. If only we could all just write a book to tell our ex's how they ruined a great thing.
Charlotte ends up in bed with her divorce lawyer Harry Goldenblatt even though he is everything she hates in a man.
Episode Eight: I Love a Charade

Everyone is invited to the Hampton's to celebrate Carrie's friend Bobbie's marriage; this is a bit of a shock as they all thought he was gay. Carrie bumps in to Jack Berger and it turns out he is now single, Miranda and Steve have sex and she realises she has some feelings for him. Samantha has a party at Richards house and throws a cantaloupe through his patio doors and Charlotte and Harry are in love, one problem he can only marry someone who is Jewish.

So at the end of the series we are left with lots of what ifs and what's coming next, will Jack and Carrie get together? Miranda and Steve? Will they finally admit that they actually like each other? Will Samantha ever get over Richard? And will charlotte and Harry get married?

Cast & Film Makers:

Rather than repeat what I have written already in my review on Series One, Two & Three & Four Sex and the City I will add information about new cast members.

Sarah Jessica Parker - Plays Carrie

Kim Catrall - Plays Samantha

Cynthia Nixon - Plays Miranda

Kirsten - Plays Charlotte

Chris North - Mr Big

Darren Starr - Executive Producer

Michael Patrick King - Executive Producer & Writer:

John Corbett - Aiden.

Kyle Malachlan - Trey McDougal

David Eigenburg - Steve Brady

Stanford Blatch - Willie Garson

Anthony Marintino - Mario Canton

Richard Wright - James Remar

New Characters:

Ron Livingston plays Jack Berger, In 2001 Ron starred as Captain Lewis Nixon in HBO's "Band of Brothers", he also appeared in 'The Practice' and 'Rumour of Angles'. We only get to see a small amount of Jack in this series but so far we know he is a writer who is going through a break u, he likes Carrie but hasn't quite worked her out yet although there is a definite attraction.

Evan Handler plays Harry Goldenblatt, Evan is known for his role as Larry Fine in ABC's 2000 production of 'The Three Stooges' he has also made guest appearances in 'Six Feet Under' and 'The West Wing'. The character of Harry is set to be Charlotte's next love. Harry is everything that Charlotte is not but still she can see deep inside what a wonderful man he really is.

To Buy:

Series 5 is available on Amazon for £12.97 new or from £10 used, this is an absolute bargain!
