At the close of the very succesfull first season of Sex and the City we saw Carrie watch Big drive away without her. The season closed with Carrie telling viewers that after he left she cried for a week, but then got on with her life. And this is the premise of the show; everybody gets hurt, but women aren't as fragile as they are perceived, we can move on with our lives, just as men can.

The opening episodes of season 2 show Carrie trying to move on with her life without Big. The opening episode, entitled 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame' shows the 4 girls going to a baseball game, where Carrie meets the 'New Yankee'. Becoming obsessed with wanting to look at her best the first time she sees Big since their break-up, she decides to invite her new guy to a party. However, she is more concerned with looking for Big than spending time with him, and realises she is not yet over Big. In this opening episode also the other 3 girls face troubles of their own, with Samatha dealing with the problems and compromises that come with having a relationship; Charlotte becoming concerned with her new man's fascination with adjusting himself; and MIranda becoming annoyed with her friends seemingly obssessed-with-men lives.

Other stand-out episodoes include 'The Freak Show' where Carrie wonders where all the 'normal' guys have gone; 'The Man, The Myth, The Viagra' where we meet Steve for the first time (this is also my all time favourite episode); and 'The Fuck Buddy' where Carrie and the girls discuss the merits of having someone around purely for sex. Episodes in season 2 are particularly known for pushing the boundaries, with episodes such as the one just mentioned.

In these season we see Carrie start up a relationship with Big for the second time, and then yet again see it come crashing down around her. At the end of the season Big once again makes an appearance, this time to tell Carrie that he has become engaged to his new girlfriend, Natasha. This season sees the girls go through some tough things, and we see the characters grow and develop. Maybe not quite so racy as season one, and perhaps not having the humour of season three, this is an important season nonetheless as we learn a lot about the characters. There are only 12 episodes in season one, so in the 18 in season two we are still learning about the 4 girls. We really see how different they are from each other, yet we still see them look out for each other and come together regardless of their differences.

As ever with SATC DVD's there are no special features or 'play all' abilities, so you're really buying the DVD for the episodes alone. But this is a great way to have a collection of all episodes. The packaging is very pink and girly and matches the show perfectly.

I would definitely recommend buying the season 2 DVD. For fans such as me, every season is important and the set definitely wouldn't be complete without this season. Season 2 contains some classic moments, and lots of back story that will become very important to later seasons.
