Sex and the City is an American TV comedy show based on four thirty-something women living in Manhattan. Stylish and sophisticated we are taken through each episode by Carrie, a writer for a New York tabloid paper. As she asks various questions about relationships she uses herself and her 3 best friends – Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte to find the answers.
After much hinting to just about everyone last Christmas I was fairly confident that I would receive the must have pink and black box. As I tore the wrapping paper off what looked like the correct size and weight, I was right, Santa had bought me exactly what I wanted. What I wasn’t banking on was that my lovely mum would suggest she watches them with me as she’d ‘never seen an episode before’……..how could I tell her that it was just too rude for my little ol’ mum and I couldn’t bear watching one of the characters called Samantha have another hilarious sex session with another random guy (which she seems to do in almost every episode)????!! Somehow I’ve still managed to escape that scenario!
The complete set of Sex and the City DVD’s are available in the cutest shoe box style gift set which includes all 6 series. Every SATC fan should own the full set just to watch over and over again whilst wondering why they ended such a winning show too soon. If you’ve never watched it – you must, it’s not only hilarious but its like fashion show in every scene (one of the things that the show will be remembered for is its amazing if not eccentric wardrobe for all the girls)
As you watch each series they just get better and the best thing about this box set is you can watch them all in order from start to finish without missing out on a single one. The way Carrie talks to the camera in the first few episodes is soon stopped and that is the only thing I can say did not work with this (they obviously realised and dropped it quite early on). Don’t let that put you off!
Ladies, most of the men you will see throughout are just gorgeous – Aidan in series three and four is just my ideal man and don’t get me started on Smith in the final series, what a body!!! Worth a viewing for a bit of pulse racing!!! Mr Big is the main man that features throughout each series and the one that you know Carrie should be with.
Carrie is the main character and the one that keeps the group together in my opinion. She is extremely clever and beautiful but even she goes through many relationship traumas, from seeing a married man to bizarre sexual requests! She is extremely fashion lead and has to have all the latest trends (if she has the money or not!). What I wouldn’t give for the size of her closet let alone all the clothes and shoes to fill it. Her quest for relationship answers and understanding men sees her evolve from writing a colum in a newspaper to publishing her own book. Carrie is the character I love the most!
Samantha is the oldest woman of the group but lives like the youngest and has no intention of settling down and stopping her fun. She lives her life hunting for her next conquest, any place any time! She is clearly the most outrageous and adventurous, some of her sex scenes are the most hilarious you’ll see! At times we do see a vunerable side to Samantha which enables you to love her.
Miranda is the sensible one of the group. She is high powered and career focused as a lawyer and gives the bluntest advice telling anyone who asks her opinion exactly how it is. Although struggling to express her feelings to some she is always devoted to her three best friends. She unexpectedly falls pregnant by the man she should always end up with, Steve, but it takes her a while to realise he is the one. Again, Miranda is very funny and ends up in some hilarious scenes, especially where she tries to loose her baby weight and eventually manages to slip into her favourite skinny jeans again!
Charlotte is the straight laced reserved type who is sometimes embarrassed by each of her friend’s behaviour. Prepared to give up her fabulous job in a New York gallery for family life, all she wants is the perfect home with the perfect husband and children. After a divorce and the fact she is faced with not being able to have her own children she is given her dream with the most unlikely match in a Jewish man called Harry towards the end of the show.
A true classic , an American comedy show that will always be a favourite of mine and many women alike, I just wish they were still filming!
