...In 1928, on an archaeological dig, Professor Langford discovers an ancientEgyptian artefact at Giza. It is a strange stone circle, about twenty feet in diameter, covered in unusual and as yet indecipherable hieroglyphs. As is normal in these cases the US Army takes the stone into ‘protective custody!’ Alas nobody knows what is does or how to use it. Seventy years go by and they are still working on the hieroglyphs. This is still a civilian operation, headed up by Katherine Langford, (the professor’s daughter). The team has got as far as deciphering six of the symbols on the stone but are at a loss to the seventh. Enter Doctor Daniel Jackson, an ancient language and text whiz-kid. Advantages: Finally its on DVD Disadvantages: lacks in the special features
...Fans of the Stargate Sg-1 TV Series who haven’t seen this movie will instantly notice that all of the characters with the exception of Skarra are all played by different actors and that Teal’c, Samantha Carter, and General Hammond aren’t even in the movie. But after about ten minuets you don’t even notice the difference.
Giza, 1928 an archaeological dig discovers a huge ring covered in Egyptian hieroglyphics and some undecipherable inscriptions.
Scientists have been unable to decipher what the ring is for or what the inscriptions say.
So the owner of the ring enlists Daniel Jackson (James Spader) a well-known linguist who has recently been fired from his job for his “out there” theories on who actually built the Egyptianpyramids.

...How many of us watched Maggie Thatcher making an idiot of herself with her appauling joke about the return of the mummy? Did she mean to tell us that she resembled the mummy in being evil, disheveled and utterly past it? Whatever her motives were I decided to invest some time in watching the original version of the Mummy.
This film is set in Egypt and tells a story centered around the hidden city Hamunaptra that can only be seen at a certain time. An ancientegyptian tale unfolds around this lost city including the entrance of the famous seven plagues. These are brought about by an ancient mummy who had been mummified alive for a previous crime millions of years ago. When he awakens he terrorises the nation and a race begins to allow good to triumph over evil and save the world!
