Ben Thomas, a former IRS agent, is haunted by mistakes he has made in his past. Ridden with guilt and remorse, Ben searches for redemption in the form of seven strangers. With his plan set to change the lives of these people, he unexpectedly ends up falling in love with one of his chosen seven, Emily, who has a terminal heart condition, making his plan much harder. However, Ben is determined to carry out his plan and won't let anything get in his way.

From watching the trailers of this film I didn't really gage what it was really about as not much of the actual story was given away. However, there is a reason for this and, when watching it, you realise that you're not meant to know what is actually going on. This is why I have only given a very brief outline of the plot as anything more would ruin the entire film.
Throughout most of the film I was sitting there completely clueless and didn't have any idea what the hell was going on. I was completely confused and thought I was missing something but my husband didn't seem to know much more than me. Thinking that we were just both being plain stupid, I sat there throughout most of the film getting quite frustrated that I didn't know what was going on. However, only at the very end of the film do you find out what is actually happening and my frustration immediately disappeared and understanding dawned. The film is meant to be like this so don't go thinking you're stupid or that the film is rubbish and turn it off before seeing the end because, in fact, the film was absolutely brilliant.
By the end, when I eventually understood everything, I was completely devastated and shocked and sat there blubbering like a baby in my seat. I came out of the cinema with red puffy eyes and no make up left on!
Yet again Will Smith plays a wonderful role - a mysterious and sensitive man who doesn't give much away about himself which makes him even more intriguing. Having been in a lot of comedy and action films and shows, here we see Will Smith in a much more real and emotional role, similar to that in The Pursuit of Happyness, and he does it perfectly making you love his character and causing you to choke up or get a lump in your throat every time he does on the screen.
This is a really emotional film and, even now just writing this review and not having seen the film since it first came out, I'm even getting quite upset just thinking back to it! If you tend to cry at films then this one is a definite to take your tissues to!
I can see why people could become irritated with not understanding what was going on but this was the whole point so I really don't understand some of the negative or not so good reviews. This was one of my favourite films in a long time and one that I would be sure to watch again. It was bloody brilliant!
