This film is one of John Waters finest; he takes a normal family and gives them a few interesting twists. Though this film is alittle predictable at times I don't think it matters one bit, as it suits the cast well. My cousin Thomas or Tomsk as I like to call him first showed me this film about 5 years ago, while having a pizza hehe. It really made me laugh at times how cheeky and naughty the mother (Kathleen Turner) is. She leads a normal life, cooking her family their meals, tidying the house hold; she is the world's finest housewife. On the other side to her character you wouldn't ever want to cross her path if she disagrees with you.
The facial expressions she makes during the film make it even more comical, I don't think anyone could have pulled this movie off the way she did. John Waters picked a great cast for this movie, even Ricki Lake fitted in well! Though I must admit the acting is rather cheesy but that's the way it was meant to be, and when you watch this movie you know why. It was never meant to be a serious movie, but a movie to be shocked and have a laugh at. Which I certainly did, and I do each and every time I watch it.
****** The Plot ******
Its starts out a normal family day, the Sutphin family are all sitting round the breakfast table and the police knock at the door. It appears that poor Dotty Hinkle (Mink Stole) a women in there neighbour hood is being harassed by obscene phone calls and letters. Now who would do a thing like that?
No one would ever suspect Beverly (Kathleen Turner), until her daughter, Misty (Ricki Lake), notices that people they dislike start to disappear one by one. No one in the family believes Misty she even ends up having second thoughts that her mother could be a serial killer.
As the police start searching round, all the evidence is leading them back to the middle class family, as they are getting closer and closer to the truth Beverly puts more of a brave face on. Until she gets found out when the police then send her to court, to await her trail.
Beverly decides that she wants to represent herself in proving her innocent where she tries to convince the jury that she didn't commit any of these horrible crimes does she or don't she?
****** Soundtrack ******
For this movie they don't really have a soundtrack, just musical intros at different points of the film. Which I like in a movie, you don't need to rely on a soundtrack if you have a good story line.

****** Special Features ******
Sadly this DVD doesn't have many special features just the standard.
Original Theatrical Trailer
Scene Access
Interactive Menus
Personally this is always a let down for me as I loved to watch deleted scenes, out-takes and cast information.
****** Running Time, Certificate and Region ******
Running time of approximately 99 minutes, Certificate 18 with good reason to! Region 2 Pal.
****** Value for Money ******
You can get this DVD from most good video shops from 4.99 - 7.99 In my opinion though this is a great movie I wouldn't pay no more unless special features were added.
****** Recommendations ******
I would recommend this DVD in a flash to people with a sick sense of humour like me, and people that like there daft movies.
Thanks for reading my review
