This is a story of a normal suburban family, run by a dedicated, normal suburban housewife and mother.......or is it??
Have you ever been pipped at the real find at an auction or car boot sale, and been mad? Have you been cheesed off at people that dont recycle? Or have you hired a video from your local rental place to find the previous person didn't rewind the tape? Well if you see this film you will find out how Serial Mom gets these little peeves out of her system.
Someone in Beverly's neighbourhood is being harrassed by obsene phonecalls. The police are investigating.
There is some gossip going around about the Sutphin family...Beverly is not happy and is very protective towards them. She will defend them to the death if necessary.
Dead bodies start appearing.....Who is the serial killer???.... And who IS that damned obsene phone caller???
All will be revealed as we follow the story of this normal appearing housewife and the suspicions of her freinds and family members.
Eventually it all comes to a head and there is a police car chase and sirens blaring, lights flashing, and "Serial Mom" is arrested.
When in court Beverly defends herself. For me this was the best part of the film. She crushes all the witnesses against her with her cross examinations, gets off, and becomes famous in the process.
Will Serial Mom kill again???
You will have to see the film to find out.
This film is a little predictable at times, but Kathleen Turner is so convincing in this role I dont think that matters. Very amusing and entertaining.
Written and Directed by John Waters
