TT Isle Of Man 1950 - Senior Race DVD

Disadvantages: doesn't mention the fantastic tt nightlife

Every year people from babies in prams to elderly and everthing in between turn out in there thousands to watch this nail biting action. Famous racers go round the 37 mile circuit at break neck speed on this gorgeous island. After the TT is over the island goes back to one of the most peaceful places in the world where people are so laid back its hard work to get out of bed!!! Advantages: Cheap, historical and quite fun

...I picked this up on budget (again - its a re-occuring theme - damn this student lifestyle!) for £5 to just see what the motorcycle racing was like five years ago on the Isle Of Man. I've seen the Tourist Trophy races pretty much every year of my life so far, and this DVD brought back some memories. Typically, this DVD is quite like others in its series, as it has commentary of the races as they're happening, usually with helicopter video following the race too, or fixed point cameras around the course at key points, such as Ballaugh Bridge or Parliament Square. Ballaugh Bridge has some of the best bits as the bikes shoot over the bridge at crazy speeds, which the DVD captures well, though the DVD did focus on sidecars alot instead of bikes at certain points, and they just aren't as exciting as watching bikes zoom past each other... Advantages: An amazing display of driving
Disadvantages: slightly cheesy production values

...Tony Pond was one of Britain's foremost rally drivers in the 70s and 80s, in such cars as the TR7 and Metro 6R4. Although he never actually won a championship event, he came third in the RAC rally and won many international events. He also circuit raced successfully, competing in a Rover SD1 in the European Touring Car championship. This association with Rover continued after he retired, and led to his attempt in 1990 to lap the world famous TT motorcycle circuit on the Isle of Man, at an average of over 100 mph in a Rover 800 Vitesse. This video is the in-car footage of that attempt. The production values of the video come across as slightly amateurish, most notably in the cheesy commentary, and blatant plugging of Rover and Shell.
