Seinfeld - Series 5 - Complete DVD

...Seinfeld was one of Americas longest and most loved sitcoms. Lasting 9 seasons in total, Seinfeld broke new ground by being a show where nothing happened. This Dvd boxset contains the first 2 seasons. Season 1 is only 5 episodes long as the network wanted to test the water before commisioning more episodes. The series did only mildly well however a 2nd series was commisioned as although the ratings weren't great Seinfeld was popular with the notoriously hard to reach young males. The Dvd boxset aswell as the episodes contains 13hrs of bonus features. Commentaries, notes, interviews and a documentary charting the ideas behind and the beginning of Seinfeld. The menus on each of the 4 discs depict scenes from the show and are easy to navigate. The special features do repeat the same material a bit and there are only commentaries... Read review

Advantages: The box it comes in can fit seasons 1 - 4 in as well!!
Disadvantages: Can Become an addiction!!

Other episodes include The mom and pop store, The soup, The secretary, The switch, The race, The lable maker, TheScofflaw, The Highlights of 100, The Beard, The Kiss Hello, The Doorman,The Jimmy, The Doodle, Thefusili jerry, The diplomats club, The Face painter and The Understudy, also spread over 4 discs. Extras for this DVD are much the same as series 5 but also includes: Running with the egg: Making seinfeld from idea to air. Inside looks: Behind the scenes stories from cas and creators. Sein-Imation: see seinfeld re-imagined as a seinfeld animation. The gift set is also fantastic value for money and costs around £35 which is cheaper then just buying series 5 and six on ther own, very addictive to watch so be carefull if you have work to be done, as pulling yourself away is nearly impossible!!... Advantages: Hilarious and well written.

...Funny story of how I got into Seinfeld, I'd always heard it was great and I seen a deal on this Season 1-3 box set on eBay for £14. I thought it'd be worth a look so I got it. It spent 8 months on my shelf unopened. Then one day I opened it, within 5 weeks I had the first 7 seasons on DVD. To say I was hooked would be an understatement and for me, this is THEE greatest comedy ever made. Its smartly written, makes you think, reflects real life more than any other sitcom and managed to stay away from all the luvvy mushy stuff that most American sitcoms fall into. The first three seasons are a brilliant introduction into this show. It begins naturally with the pilot episode which is great to look back at as an avid fan seeing just how much the characters have changed and developed. In fact Elaine isn't even in this Episode.
