This film has the be one of the most funny if not the funniest film i have ever seen. it is absolutely hysterical. See No Evil, Hear No Evil features the creasingly funny double act of Richard Pryor one of the most influential and naturally funny comedians of our time (sadly passed away). And Gene Weilder an equally funny man with great acting ability.
The Plot/ Story
Basically the two men meet by chance Richard Pryor playing the Character of Wally Keru a blind man who is unemployed and seeks employment from Gene Weilder who plays David Lyons a deaf shop owner in a city building. Both men are witness to a murder but neither of them saw or heard anything. They find them selves wrongly accused of murder and are determined to fight for their freedom. The two men develop a great friendship over the time they spend together in this fun filled flick of laughter.
Character Performances
Both Gene Weilder and Richard Pryor are hysterical and their double act is a perfect match. Each individual is well suited to their character and both men perform flawlessly. Both men are very convincing about their illness demonstrating superb acting skills and providing constant humor for the viewer. I laughed so much i thought i was going to crack a rib bone or pass out. I personally think that this double act will be one that is remembered for a very very long time.
How good is it in comparison to other films with this Double Act?
Compared with similar films like Stir Crazy and Silver Streak, See No Evil Hear No Evil is a cut above the rest. i think the two men were at their best when they recorded this masterpiece and the fun never seems to end. the situations and trouble the men get into is simply hilarious one example would be when Wally Keru (Richard) gets stuck in a conference with many different international doctors. Keru has no idea what is being said so he has to think of something quick to say. My words can not really do this film justice it is just exhilaratingly funny.
Did I enjoy it and would i recommend it?
Absolutely and i would say to any one with good comedic taste to snatch themselves a copy of this whirlwind of laughter and get ready to fall off your chair with giggles. Like i said my words cant justify how hilarious this really is so i recommend you see for yourself. BE WARNED you watch this if you dont mind comedy that isnt clean otherwise you could be in for a bit of a shock.
