the brink of execrable taste, but more often ends up being bland. Brash blind Wally (Richard Pryor) and mild-mannered, cute deaf Dave (Gene Wilder) form a working partnership based partly on mutual regard and partly on desperation. A man is killed at the counter of their cigar store and neither of them can quite account for their actions or identify the killer, Eve (Joan Severance). They find themselves arrested and subsequently on the run. Eve and her henchman--a surprisingly sinister Kevin Spacey--pursue them remorselessly, searching for a gold coin that is more and less than it appears. Mild sexual chemistry between Wilder and the villainess is perhaps one of the few elements here not entirely watered down from late-period Hitchcock. Playing disability for slapstick is perhaps not the most enlightened way to increase sympathy for the disabled: this is a crass film whose good intentions are more than usually fragile. On the DVD: the disc includes a rather smug featurette and filmographies of the two stars. --Roz Kaveney

As the police arrive the only suspects which they have are Wally and Dave but as they are blind and deaf they are not very helpful to the police and the only clue which they have are a pair of long ladies legs and some voices. Wally and Dave are trying to prove their innocence but are relieved when they are released on bail by a very long legged woman.
Dave and Wally are on the run from the law now and are trying to track down the real killers and prove themselves innocent but do they actually understand that the killers are after them as they still have the gold coin in their possession and will they find out the truth?
I really do enjoy this film as it is very funny and has a great story. Although the story is not totally believable I can forgive this as it is put across in such a clever and funny way. The characters are all very good and I think that Pryor and Wilder do a fantastic job portraying their characters disabilities. They both work extremely well together and have a great comic timing. All of the supporting actors in the film are also very good and do their roles very well. I found that it may have benefited from a few more characters just to give the story a little more depth instead of just having it centred around the gold coin and the murder.
The setting for the film is America in the late 80’s so the clothes are very dated but this is not off putting and some of the outfits are very funny to see now. The music in the film is good if not very memorable, I do remember thinking that it was all appropriate for the places which it was used.
As I have previously said this is a very funny film and I have to say that one of the parts which really stands out for me is when the men are supposed to be having their mug shots done after they have been arrested as they are unable to both look at the camera at the same time as Wally keeps turning to look at Dave so he can see what he is saying. I think this is a very clever part which never fails to amuse me. My hubby also finds this film very funny and he is actually the one who introduced me to this pair of actors.
I will admit that this is probably not the best film I have seen this pair in but it is still a great fun film which is so easy to watch and enjoy. Personally I did enjoy their performance more in Stir Crazy.
The DVD which we have does have some bonus material which includes:-
Behind the Scenes Featurettes Filmographics Theatrical Trailer
As anyone who reads my reviews will know I am not a fan of bonus material so I have not watched these.
The film has a running time of 98 minutes which I feel is a great length as it does not drag and moves at a good pace from start to finish. The certificate on this film is a 15 as there are some scenes of comic violence, and frequent uses of bad language. I personally did not find anything offensive in this film so I would say that it is up to the parent if they feel their child of say around the 13-14 year old mark is able to watch it.
I cannot remember how much I paid for this DVD as I have had it for some time but it is available on Amazon for just a few pounds.
I am going to recommend this film as it is a good comedy which contains a great pairing in Wilder and Pryor, although maybe not their best. I will give this film a 4 star rating although hubby gives it a 5 but as this is my review then I get the final say!
...never heard of again. Well see no evil hear no evil is one of them cmic gems that you could watch over and over again and not tire from it. The two main stars of the film, Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder are both wonderful and self established stars with an irreplacable chemistry, and that chemistry is utilized very well throughout. Of course, the brilliantly original premise helps as well. A blind guy and a deaf guy who pair up to solve a murder? ... ...Also, if you want to see an early (comic) performance by Kevin Spacey, it's also worth checking out. Speaking of worth checking out, Joan Severance provides great eye candy, and she has a couple of nude scenes to boot. Plot
Meet Dave Lyons and Wally Karew. They're as normal as every other human being around, except for one difference: Dave is deaf and Wally is blind. They meet one day when Wally looks, or rather seeks, a job at Dave's news stand. ...

See No Evil, Hear No Evil was released in 1989 and stars Gene Wilder as Dave Lyons and Richard Pryor as Wally Karue.
Dave is deaf and Wally is blind - neither were born this way and both struggle to come to terms with their disabilities. ...seen. it is absolutely hysterical. See No Evil, Hear No Evil features the creasingly funny double act of Richard Pryor one of the most influential and naturally funny comedians of our time (sadly passed away). And Gene Weilder an equally funny man with great acting ability.
The Plot/ Story
Basically the two men meet by chance Richard Pryor playing the Character of Wally Keru a blind man who is unemployed and seeks employment from Gene Weilder who ... ...Stir Crazy and Silver Streak, See No Evil Hear No Evil is a cut above the rest. i think the two men were at their best when they recorded this masterpiece and the fun never seems to end. the situations and trouble the men get into is simply hilarious one example would be when Wally Keru (Richard) gets stuck in a conference with many different international doctors. Keru has no idea what is being said so he has to think of something quick to say. ...
