I know what your brother did last winter when he was screaming at Halloween etc etc. Spoofs seem to be the latest trend into today's modern world, and the main spoofing genre is horror flicks. But in the midst of all these slatings, one horror film series has stood out above the rest. The Scream series. Infact Scream probably started the whole horror movie re-birth in the 90's. When I bought the first Scream movie, I was only 15. This movie rocked my world; it grabbed me and shook me by the neck. I'm surprised it didn't get much recognition.
When Scream 2 came out, I couldn't wait. I rented the movie first night it came out and sat in my front room, lights off, and totally caught in the moment. Another superb film, but better than the first? Well if you've ever seen Scream 2 they have a deep discussion about how much sequels suck. A small piece of irony maybe? Or just taking the mick out of themselves. Well I don't know either way, but I probably enjoyed it a little more than the first one, which I don't usually do.
Now onto the actual point of this review. Scream 3. They are desperately trying to scrape a third movie out in my opinion. I have watched it twice, one on pirate type with Japanese subtitles and awful picture quality. Trust me when I say I will never do that again. It ruined the whole Scream series for me, a film that is already poor enough, made worse furthermore by the tape quality. The other time was on DVD, it was a lot better this time round, maybe I understood it more. But it certainly wasn't as good as the previous two movies. If I've said it once I've said it a million times, they shouldn't have killed off Randy in the second movie.
So does Scream 3 work? Well it's by no means a bad movie, nor a bad sequel. But compared to the last 2 movies, it doesn't compare. Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox are two fine actors, and in some respects they carry the film. You don't care for anyone in the movie apart from those two. I'm not gunna go into the film anymore as it would be shallow of me to ruin it for others who haven't had the pleasure.
If you like Scream, don't be amazed if you find Scream 3 a disappointment. But if all you're interested in is blood, gore and entertainment that satisfies your disgusting pleasures, by all means rent out Scream 3. It's possibly what back rows were made for.

Production Year: 2005 - Horror - Director: Eli Roth - Original Language: English - Classification: 18 years and over - Starring: Jay Hernandez, Derek Richardson, Shane Daly, Lenka Vlasakova, Eythor Gudjonsson, Jan Vlasak
I don't think they should have made ANY sequels - scream was good as it was, each time a sequel is made it degrades the original which was a good film... I don't they should've killed off Randy either - he was a great character with loads of potential.
