Scream 3. The third part of a trilogy that was supposed to have re-surrected the horror genre. They should have stopped at two. This film is a dire excuse for a horror movie, with very little suspense and hardly any genuinely jump out of your skin moments.
Scream and other teen slasher movies were all based upon the well trodden route that Friday the Thirteenth and Halloween started. Both of these movies had genuinely suspense filled moments, and occasions when you jumped so hard that you thought your heart might have stopped beating. Unfortunately for the genre, it proved very popular, and sequel after sequel duly appeared which killed teen slasher movies stone dead.
Then Wes Craven, a genuine horror master, created Scream and teen slasher movies were very much back in fashion, and so were the inevitable sequels. Unfortunately they also followed the same path, with each sequel being progressively worse than the last.
Having just got the movie Scream 3 today, I put it on and settled back to a few minor chills and maybe the odd laugh. I got neither. This film doesn't know whether to play it straight or as a comedy so consequently falls flat on it's face. The script seems to be okay, but both the acting and directing are very poor. It's hard to believe that the man who created 'The People Under the Stairs' and the original 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' directed this pile of tripe.
The plot harks back to the original movie as though it were real, and this film centres on the making of a third film based on the original murders, called Stab 3. Unfortunately the original killer of Sidney's mother, is now killing the cast members off, which isn't a bad thing really as Jenny McCarthy is the second one dead, which destroys most of the potential for wooden acting straight away. We then have the usual suspects, more killings, red herrings and cliches galore.
It is impossible to truly state how dire this film is, but then maybe it's just me. Everything in horror has been done, so there aren't any surprises for me. Obviously from other ops on Ciao, there are people that like this movie, and I think it is probably because they didn't see the classic horrors when they were new and fresh.
Scream 3: more a whimper than a bang.

Hi, haven't seen it yet, but if scream 2 is anything to go by I won't like it.... I bet I can guess who the killer is too.... by the way I thought the original killer of Sidney's mother was dead....? or is this a predictable plot twist?

Interesting op. Haven't seen it yet, but you describe it the way I expected. But you think you could be a little more specific about what went wrong? (examples) Greets, Bastien

Craig - have no fear, many of us are also members at Dooyoo, some with the same user name - some different. Cheating only occurs where you post an op here -or anywhere else of that matter - NOT Written by you! You can post the same (although a liitle frowned upon) or similar ops on both sites and on any others you feel like, but if you - or I - start posting 'stolen' ops, someone elese's work, whether from a newpaper, magazine or web based - you've got problems. Many, many ops arte simply stolen from US members of Epiniions - Google catches them. I've even had two instances where my own ops have found there way onto this site - by someone else! BUT NOT FOR LONG !!! Hope that helps - and if you spot anything suspicious, don't be afraid to say (but be careful of the spiteful revenge rating etc that a comment to the wrong person may lead to) Cheers.
