Well here we have it, the third and final instalment from the Scream trilogy. From the very beginning these films were made with a trilogy in mind and the final part slots all three films together wonderfully. There are new twists, new characters and suprises aplenty as you will discover if you watch it.
The first thing i must mention with the Scream trilogy is that none of them are particulary scary. You occasionally have a few jumpy bits which are so jumpy that they make a kangaroo look stationary, but that's about it. So what is it that makes us all flock to the cinema in a mad rush to see this film? (like the uk public did). Well i believe it's the storyline, it keeps you intrigued all the way, after the film ends it leaves you yearning for more, except this time there ain't anymore.
The plot - Sydney Prescot (Neve Campbell) is now in hiding from the scary people who keep trying to cut her up into chunks and is living a reclusive life in the woods in a very big house working as sort of an American answer to The Samaritans. Meanwhile work is underway to make 'stab 3' (based on Scream 2) but there is panic on the film set when Cotton Weary (Scream 1&2) is murdered and this causes some unrest amongst the cast. This sparks the return of super-bitch news reporter Gail Weathers (Courtney Cox-Arquette), who now fronts a much more respectable news network. She is eager to find out what is going on and decides to investigate the film studio where she bumps in to police officer turned protector of the stars, Dewey (David Arquette). Together they try to work out who will be next and when the killer will strike again as one by one the cast of 'Stab 3' are being killed. As soon as Sydney hears of this she is back from hiding to face yet another looney hell bent on slicing her into pieces. Mad girl! There is plenty of action and the fight sequences are done brilliantly.
The film is quite samey as the first two in places with lots of references being made to 'the rules of the horror movie and inparticular - trilogys', which does get rather boring as it has all been said before by irratating murdered college student Randy (scream1&2 and he also amazingly makes an appearance in this one!!!). However, the motives behind the killings in this one are completely different and very intriguing. Unless you are good at predicting how horror movies end, you will be in for a suprise in the finale of the film.
This film has still got the trademark comedy elements which have made the Scream series so popular. The cast are a lot stronger than in the previous two films with a lot more familiar faces and a fantastic appearance from Parker Posey, who really does manage to steal the show as trying to play Gail Weathers in Stab 3. Seeing both Gails together at one time makes for very enjoying viewing that will have you in stitches!
The soundtrack to the film is as usual - boring M.O.R rock anthems and soft rock ballads wherever appropriate. This soundtrack was designed for the American audience in particular, but they really should have thought about making it a little more varied, afterall this film is shown all over the world, not just the U.S.
Overall a brilliant end to a brillaint trilogy and if you liked the first two, then you are guaranteed to enjoy this one. Wes Craven really knows his stuff when it comes to writing horror movies and this shines through as you watch Scream 3. It is a cert 18 film and although it does contain some gory detail you won't be scared enough to jump behind the sofa on this occasion. Happy viewing!!

Great op, I agre totally. Scream was the best trilogy since Star Wars, you're right about the scares, apart from that amazing drew barrymore scene in Scream 1. During it i left the room and called the house, and everyone watching jumped. Great stuff. COT Time I think. :o)
