I was very anxious and excited to watch Scream 3. Firstly, being an avid fan, I really want to know what in the world happen to the lively group of people who are always stalked by psycho killers. After two/three human years, Scream 3 finally arrives. However, peoples' memory do not last long - especially for two years.

We are brought back into Hollywood where the Sunrise Studios, the production company, of Stab 3. 'Stab 3' being the movie in a movie, is about the horrific events that occured during the last sequel where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is a student studying film-making. But that's the big problem with sequels, trilogies and the time frame in-between their final opening at the cinemas. We all, except for those hard-core fans, have forgotten what in the world happened in the first two Scream(s

This time around, the script was not written by Kevin Williamson but Ehren Kruger. That was not a advisable thing to do. Firstly, Scream 3 does not have the Williamson touch especially with character development. Ehren Kruger was just writing about Williamson's characters, he was plainly lifting them off the pages of the book. Also, he wrote the script with haste and it was not so absorbing as Scream 1 and 2. Also, Mr. Ghostface was really just a shadow that hovers over the whole movie and appears as and when he/she likes. And that really sucks big time because Kruger did not write it properly. I do not blame him totally as Williamson was too busy with his other projects that he could not find the time to write the script instead.

That's not just the only problem. Scream 3 went way, way too fast. Too fast to even grow or hate on the characters. There was too many characters and I think, Kruger did not handle them well as, firstly, they weren't his. They were Williamson's. Somehow, I appreciate it when the killer starts to kill them off one by one. It is less confusing this way. Lastly, even though the violence was not toned down due to recent shootings, there wasn't any 'horror' at all, so to speak. The death scenes weren't horrifying, gory and even entertaining. After a kill, it just zoom off to another scene, with no time to absorb what had happened.

Now in Scream 3, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is a crises victims helpline operator. Ironically. Cotton Weary is back as a talk-show host in 100% Cotton. Pun. Dewey, not a deputy anymore is a technical advisor in the Stab 3. And Gale, the journalist from hell is almost what she was - more of a detective now actually. No gurantees of a good acting, but Gale certainly does have a coiffure nest as stylish hair. Sidney, with a more matured and serious look, looks good, plays good, because I like her. We feel real close to Sidney in the first two films, and our relationship developed with her is strong. That is a good thing as, we can feel what Sidney feels. So it's like, we are attached, literally, to the movie. Sadly, however, Neve was not given much screen space/time in Scream 3.
