established themes and orchestrations while still attempting to say something fresh. Thumbs up for Beltrami on his hat trick completed by Scream 3, because he's done just that. Sid's theme (Courtney Cox Arquette's character) weaves in and out the action, performing numerous direct or indirect references to the secret identity of the final killer (that's not a giveaway!). Beltrami's red herring bombast and crashing still underpins the numerous heart-in-your-mouth chase sequences and sneaking about. And there's also the trademark fusion with contemporary rock that he's become synonymous with since landing his first major job on the original Scream. You can learn what makes this album different in our exclusive interview, but worth taking into consideration is that the film's sound mix is so gosh-darn muddled that this is the only way to appreciate the composer's final cut. --Paul Tonks

Wes Craven'sScreamtrilogy ends with a soundtrack meant to accompany the apocalypse. With ... more
the band Creed serving as executive producers of this set, the emphasis is solidly on the sludgiest, most testosterone-driven rock possible. The line-up is a virtual who's who of the millennium's American metal brigade (whether they 'fess up and call it that anymore or not). While "What If" is featured on Creed's 1999 album,Human Clay, the relatively subdued "Is This the End" was recorded specifically for the film. Additionally, Incubus, Sevendust, Powerman 5000 and other loud rock contenders contribute new tracks to the cause. It's an all-for-one approach. You'll either find this unrelenting assault of sullen, moody lyrics, hyper-distorted guitars and histrionic vocalists the perfect adrenaline rush to Craven's world of horror; or you'll scratch your head wondering how so many differently titled bands can arrive at the same sound. --Rob O'Connor

What should have been an explosive finale to the trilogy inScream 3ends up becoming ... more
something of a damp squib, with little of the suspense that made the first two so memorable. Kevin Williamson, creator of the originalScream, claimed he always saw the series as a trilogy, so it's a pity that he couldn't have had more of a hand in the last of the series, settling for a producer credit while the screenplay is penned by Ehren Kruger (ironic in itself, given director Wes Craven's most famous creation). When a crucial player in the first two movies is killed in the now obligatory pre-credit murder sequence, the attention switches to the set ofStab 3, the third in the fictional film series based on the original Woodsboro murders of the firstScreammovie. Sydney Prescott, who has spent the last few years targeted by the Ghost-faced killer, is drawn out of hiding in the Californian hills to face the killer one last time. Along the way she is re-united with old friends, (both living and dead) and discovers more about her family history than she ever wanted to know. Most of the players look a little bored with the whole thing now and Craven just doesn't inject any pace into the proceedings, happy, it seems to produce virtually carbon copy set pieces from the previous instalments. The film sags incredibly in the second act and when a convenient "pre-recorded" message from the late Randy Meeks turns up, it's not so much evidence of that character's forethought, more of the scriptwriter's laziness. It has its moments though: Jenny McCarthy hiding from the killer in a wardrobe room filled with Ghostface costumes, a great cameo from Carrie Fisher and the constant bitching between Cox and the wonderful Parker Posey, who plays Gail Weathers in the fictionalStab 3. Ultimately, though, as the closing chapter in a great horror series,Scream 3fails to live up to its predecessors. --Jonathan Weir

...it. So then came along Scream 2 and then Scream 3. I have always though that with sequels more money is ploughed into them so that they are bigger and better. So does Scream 3 manage this?
The plot is very similar to its predecessors. This time around the murders happen during the filming of a movie called stab 3 based on the events of the Woodsboro murders. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was in hiding after the events of the ... ...the new killings. Then begins the usual game of cat and mouse as the knife-yielding murderer could pop out at any point. It isn’t anything special as it is much the same as the previous two. It lacks pace and at points is predictable. The one thing it has got in its favour is the fact that you can’t guess the killer, which keeps you watching so that you know. I am being a bit harsh on it because it has some good moments.

The plot is very similar to its predecessors. This time around the murders happen during the filming of a movie called stab 3 based on the events of the Woodsboro murders. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was in hiding after the events of the first two movies is now drawn into the open after the new killings. The acting throughout is very good Neve Campbell in particular does a brilliant job at the one the killer is really after. She manages to show her fear excellently and yet at the end her character changes to stand up to the killer in a come and get me type of way. David Arquette also does a brilliant job in reprising his role from the previous movies, as too does Courtney Cox Arquette. It is strange because the real people see the people that play them in Stab 3. If you can understand that. So basically there are the stars of the original movie and their look-alikes all in one movie. It is actually not that confusing in the movie but what I am trying to say is that everyone involved does a great job on the acting front. The real star of the show is of course the killer but I won’t spoil it for you.
The action is the usual cat and mouse, killer chasing victim type stuff. It is pretty much the same ground that its prequels covers but it adds a few new elements. It has a tense bit at the start where the killer causes a celebrity to rush home at insane speeds through heavy traffic only to be killed. There is also a massive explosion but its still lacks that something, that little extra something to make it stand out. This therefore makes it just another Scream. As for it being a horror? Well there is nothing remotely scary about it although the chase scenes are well staged and tense it doesn’t scare you one bit.
Do you like Scary Movies? If the answer to the question was yes then I suggest you watch something else because hiding behind the sofa isn’t necessary for this one. If however you fancy watching an entertaining movie that will not astound or amaze you then give it a go.

...and final instalment from the Scream trilogy. From the very beginning these films were made with a trilogy in mind and the final part slots all three films together wonderfully. There are new twists, new characters and suprises aplenty as you will discover if you watch it. The first thing i must mention with the Scream trilogy is that none of them are particulary scary. ...be a touch better than Scream 2 and you have to watch it to see how the 'series' ends. The sequels have failed to match the originals pace, slickness and tension.
Craven has managed to cash in on the success of the original Scream
( although there is only so much of predictable horror you can take!). Scream 3 seems to me to be almost a comedy/parody of horror films at times. Trust me you are more likely to scream with laughter than fear whilst ... ...stop the killer. Scream 3 has a lot of murders however only one or two actually surprise you. The all-important end is guaranteed to make you giggle at least once or twice. There is a twist to the killers identity and I would be lying if I said I guessed who it was. That is one good thing, the sense of suspense helps the film a bit. By the time you get to the end of the film you almost wish that the killer murders all the casst as it gets a bit silly. ...

Advantages: funny out-takes, decent soundmix, good commentary Disadvantages: feels rushed, some 'padding'extras
Scream was the film that got me interested in film and eventually film-making. Scream 2 I thought was a worthy sequel with a lot more gloss and in some ways was better at staging some very well orchestrated scares, the stalking on the soundstage is one example. Scream 3 is a decent conclusion to the trilogy but has a feeling that it's been rushed and things don't gel as much. You just get the feeling that it was done to please the fans and finish ... ...When I saw Scream 3 in a movie theatre I remember there being a good use of surround effects and they are all faithfully reproduced here with voices coming from the rears as well as general ambience. As for the extras well what is listed seems fantastic but you may be disappointed when you actually view them. First up is an audio commentary with Wes Craven, Editor Patrick Lussier and Producer Marianne Maddalena. It's an entertaing track that throws ...

...Kevin Williamson created the original Scream movie he single-handedly re-wrote the rules for creating a modern horror flick. Williamson included all the witty, post-modern, self-referential elements that made his TV series so refreshing and satirised the traditions of the teen slasher movie. It seems that every horror movie that is released today is expected to be a post-Scream irony-fest. But Scream wasn't a simple spoof. It was a shockingly effective ... ...for spawning superfluous sequels but Scream 3 is no tired rehash of the original formula. The story was originally conceived as a trilogy and Scream 3 gives the accomplished horror director Wes Craven (of Nightmare on Elm Street fame) the chance to tie up the loose ends from the first two films and put a new spin on the whole saga. The story is based around the production of the fictional movie Stab 3. You'll remember that Stab was the film (featured ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Been done, neither horror nor comedy, poor acting, cliched.
Scream 3. The third part of a trilogy that was supposed to have re-surrected the horror genre. They should have stopped at two. This film is a dire excuse for a horror movie, with very little suspense and hardly any genuinely jump out of your skin moments.
Scream and other teen slasher movies were all based upon the well trodden route that Friday the Thirteenth and Halloween started. Both of these movies had genuinely suspense filled moments, and ... ...a genuine horror master, created Scream and teen slasher movies were very much back in fashion, and so were the inevitable sequels. Unfortunately they also followed the same path, with each sequel being progressively worse than the last.
Having just got the movie Scream 3 today, I put it on and settled back to a few minor chills and maybe the odd laugh. I got neither. This film doesn't know whether to play it straight or as a comedy so consequently ...

Universal are releasing some real quality Region 1 DVDs of late. Many are badged as ‘Widescreen Collectors Edition’ without any other versions being available. Scream3 was a good example of this and so is Nutty Professor 2 : The Klumps.
The DVD is produced in beautiful anamorphic widescreen with crystal clear Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound. It is loaded with extras that include a particularly good ‘Spotlight on Location’ taking you behind the scenes. It also has commentaries from the Director, deleted scenes, extended scenes, an interview with Director and Producer, outtakes, a documentary about the make-up techniques used, music videos and lots more.
The film itself stars Eddie Murphy and Janet Jackson. It is a sequel in that it revives the original ‘Professor Klump’ character and the ‘ ...
Advantages: Good premise, clever ending Disadvantages: Too similar to other films
questionable this was sort of what I was expecting, the acting is usually of a substandard in these sorts of films so it can be overlooked slightly.
The special effects were decent enough, nothing compared to the SFX of today but it was a good effort for a film that was released around 12 years ago. The death scenes were scary at times but there was nothing that really stood out in my mind unfortunately.
The whole film has somewhat of an amateur feel about it, it seems to be simply a carbon copy of similar yet far superior films and although there was the odd enjoyable and tense moment there was nothing stand-out about it. If you?re looking for a good teen horror film try Final Destination or Scream.
The DVD is available from play.com for £3.99.

For me this is a really interesting thing to be doing, because as some of you may know I posted my original Spiderman 3 review upon when it was launched on the big screen in cinemas worldwide, however there are few films where I have to rush out and purchase the DVD - and Spiderman 3 happens to be one of those occassions. Now free from all the screaming children, and having the sweet release of a toilet in the next room accompanied by a pause button on my remote control, it would be interesting to see how Spiderman 3 fared on a second watch, afterall I was one of the few people that found it to be a five star movie and a fitting continuation to the trilogy of movies.

DVD Description
Wes Craven's final installment of his highly successful SCREAM trilogy concludes with a fun, fast, and furious romp that cuts through B-movie cliches as readily as it does the warm flesh of its hip young cast. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox Arquette), and Dwight "Dewey" Riley (David Arquette) once again find themselves face to face with a masked psychopath who's making deadly edits to the cast of STAB 3, the schlocky slasher film based upon Sidney's own "real-life" horrors. Fueled by a snappy script, the third chapter packs a punch with a plenty of turn-on-a-dime plot twists and a high laugh-to-shriek ratio.
